View Full Version : Um... I think I need some prayer...

Hi guys. My apartment was broken into last night while I was at work. Four guns were stolen, along with a box full of change. Oddly enough, none of my computers were touched (I've got at least a dozen in various states of repair), but I suspect they'll come back and try to clean me out later. So if y'all don't mind, pray that whoever did this is caught before they end up shooting somebody with one of my guns. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get your stuff back before the criminal that stole your guns uses them.

I won't get the guns back unless I catch whoever did it myself -- the police informed me that they would be destroyed unless I could identify them, and I don't have any serial numbers (I inherited them when my dad died, and as far as I know, he never registered them).

Maybe they'll be stupid enough to have something of yours which you can identify lying together with the guns when they get caught, and the police will give you the guns, because of them matching your description. We'll pray for their return. Aren't times of trouble good times to know The Lord?

Yeah, gotta pray...

How did they break into your home anyway? Any damages?

Oh man.... I really feel for you. I can only imagine how sad you are about losing something so valued.

However...
I doubt the burglars will be back. Criminals are smart enough to know now that you are the type of person who owns guns. They will likely find another target based on that.

My uncle, who is a gun collector, always said, "If a burglar breaks into my house when I'm not home, lucky him; if he breaks in when I'm home, lucky me."

Wow! I am really sorry for your loss. My wife and I will pray for you. I can't imagine losing something that is inherited and valued, especially a gun. I hope they get caught soon.

May you get your stuff back. And may these criminals be caught by the police, afterward.;)

How did they break into your home anyway?

They kicked in the front door.

Any damages?

Just the door (and the frame).

The good news is, they didn't come back and clean me out last night while I was at work. Then again, I left a few lights on and the TV going, just to give anyone who happened to come by the impression that somebody was home.

More angry than sad. That'll come later I imagine...

Not anymore -- they took them all. Actually, my brother still has my 30-30, and I'm going to let him keep it at his house. It's the only thing of my dad's that I have left, and it'll be safe there (he has a REALLY big dog). I think I'm going to get a handgun and just take it with me everywhere I go, and put it under my mattress at night.

They will likely find another target based on that.

It might have been someone I know. If it is, I'll find out eventually.

I'd rather catch them myself. I don't have much faith in the police in general, or the Greensboro police in particular.

Careful, they have all the guns......

I don't have much faith in the police in general.

Me either, they'd rather be handing out traffic tickets than protecting our rights and property. I prefer vigilantism over filling out a police report.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan OEJ, this stinks!

You got prayers from here :)

I know this helps little at this point but....

Take polaroids of your stuff and keep them in your safe. Get renter's insurance (if you don't have any). It won't replace the sentimental value or restore your peace of mind but at least you could get a little recompense.

Isn't that what I suggested?

Jack, I'm very sorry to hear about the break-in. That sucks big time. I hope they catch the *%^#$@^, though, I know that these days that it's not very likely. My heart goes out to you. Being robbed is both traumatic and infuriating.

No prayers, but consolations on your loss.

You've reported it to the local constabulary, I trust...

Shame it's happened to you - I've been there myself. In my case, the worst thing they stole was my peace of mind and happiness, until I realized I didn't have to let them take that. I did go out and get bigger locks and welded up a monster door jamb.

If Jack is gonna take matters into his own hands, reporting the incident is the last thing he should do.....

I'm glad you are safe, but sorry to hear you've been robbed. :nono: I'll pray that you remain safe and that you find those guns that obviously have sentimental value.

No, I reported it. If I do catch them myself, it'll just be one more unsolved burglary as far as the police are concerned.

Sorry to hear that OEJ. I've had that happen myself, and it's more of the idea, the violation, than what was stolen.
Glad that you are safe.
