Well that's not how Australia or the UK or any other country is anyway... so suggesting that Australia is more liberal compared to where you live and assuming that being so liberal is automatically a bad thing really needs to be discussed carefully and without wordplay...

Hi Antipotheosis,
welcome
I live fairly north of Otways so have kangaroo problems (traffic hazard ... plus they come sniff at my car if I leave it outside the fence ... end up with their nose marks on it as well as my cat paw prints)
Oldest son lives in SE suburbs and relo's in northern subs and in-laws came from western subs ... which region are you from?
We got mail alert that water in this region is going up 77% price! Melbourne isn't copping that, are they? We'll all have to live in tents in forest and dig holes for loo coz can't afford to flush LOL :)
enough of my waffle
enjoy forum
cheers

Diggery Do is an awesome Aboriginal musical instrument like a long hollow branch/log and gives off an incredible humming strange sound when they blow in it while sitting down and extending it beyond their feet usually (I haven't seen anyone master it standing up). If you've ever heard 'Solid Rock' by Goanna (oops my age is showing .. hang on a sec while I tuck it in LOL) they have a diggery do at the start of it and I just love it.

Stereotypes of Australian bogans and countryside folk do not represent the culture, ideas, or attitudes of the majority of Australians who live in the cities - which are almost all recognized as some of the best in the world. Please don't take those stereotypes seriously...

Yeah! Along with Vienna and Vancouver, Melbourne also ranked as Number #1 as the most liveable city in the world to live in. I love advertizing this wonderful achievement to people who have never been here before... and most other Australian cities are not far behind... This sort of thing makes me very proud of my country and what it has achieved in such a short historical timeframe...

We feel much much safer without guns over here. and even if we did have guns, we wouldn't shoot animals for anything resembling fun or entertainment. Such actions are regarded as completely inhumane and barbaric by people in this part of the world.

Besides law enforcement, the only people who would have any use for guns would be farmers who would only use them to put down an injured animal or for some similar humane reason. I've shot a gun (an old rifle of some sort) for target practise (at a wooden target) at a farm out in North-Eastern Victoria a few years ago.

However I used to have a passion for Archery, but my eyesight deteriorated and I more or less lost interrest...

I do not. My speech is a bit influenced by members of my family who have spent much of their lives living in Britain.
Sometimes I find it easier to understand a typical British accent than to understand an outback bogan accent that Australian Stereotypes usually have. I've never even been to Britain, though I would love to travel around Europe some day...

Now see, I think that a British accent is even more gay sounding than an Australian accent.

I can't understand either, but fortunately your accent doesn't come through when you type. G'day mate.

What kind of beer do you drink?

I'm not a big fan of Beer, it usually upsets my stomach and instead of lowering my inhibitions it just makes me dizzy... but two days ago I decided to try something new and had a Heinneken (spelling?) beer... not bad...

sometimes I prefer a locally produced wine, but again I usually only drink alcohol on special occasions... My grandad is a bit of a wine buff, he has collected at least a hundred bottles of really good value wines after I gave him an Australian Wine guide for his last birthday... he recently gave to me for free a real top-quality wine after I asked him for a recommendation...

But look at what they did. First, the took mostly small, isolated cities and annointed them the cleanest. Then, they took huge sections of a state and combined dozens of cities in the process and maligned them as being the dirtiest.

Example:
8. Cleveland-Akron-Elyria, Ohio
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=&city=Cleveland+&state=Oh&zipcode=

I know that area well. That covers 3 counties and about 2500 square miles.

They apparently did the same thing to Atlanta. :idunno:
