T-Shirt slogan contest
OK TOL'ers....
The following is the latest TheologyOnLine contest. And it starts right now on THIS thread! I want you to submit your idea for a new clever, funny, witty, cutting or whatever (be creative) TheologyOnline T-Shirt slogan.
The T-Shirt slogan can be just a "one sider" one or be a front and back idea.
I..... and the other TOL admin's and moderators will be the judges and the winner will be announced in THREE WEEKS from today (March 15th).
What will the winner get?
The winner will get his choice of TOL t-shirts (he can pick his/her own winning idea if he likes.). Or pick any white T-shirt from the TOL store (http://www.cafeshops.com/cp/store.aspx?s=tolstore)
Other rules:
The winning slogan need to be short enough to fit legibly on a T-Shirt. The winning slogan idea cannot contain references to copy-written material.
Judging these slogans will be subjective and be judged based on cleverness, originality, marketability (yes we will add this slogan idea to our TOL product line).
The winning slogan will be turned into a T-Shirt design and added to the TOL puduct line in the TOL store.
Be creative, have fun, and you can submit as many slogan ideas as you like but you must submit them here on this thread.
Thanks and good luck!

However that wont get you any extra credit! :D
Use as many colors as you like. It will be printed in CMYK.
The design can be no larger than 8x10 or 10X8 :)
When done just provide a link on this thread to your image in the gallery.

Did I really write that? Senseless? Of course I meant ‘nonsense’.
“The Battle between sense and nonsense.”
Psycho Dave thinks its too divisive. I disagree. Divisive? Yes. TOO divisive? No.
[Matthew 10 34 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35For I have come to "set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';]

Psycho Dave thinks its too vague. Being vague can be good. The slogan must provoke some level of curiosity. Originally I considered:

NOT ALL CONSERVATIVES ARE UNINTELLIGENT, BUT MOST UNINTELLIGENT PEOPLE ARE CONSERVATIVE
Jesus said nothing against homosexuality--and nothing about it, either (unless you want to count Matthew 4:19--and I wouldn't if I were you!).
Maybe we all need to read the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke again.
First-century listeners could not imagine a Samaritan being "good" any more than they could imagine loving their enemies. The Samaritans were the bastard race of Jews. To presserve the parable's original bite, perhaps we should re-name it "Parable of the Buddhist Faggot."???

Hey aikido7 do you believe Paul when he wrote...Galatians 1:11 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. 12 For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. So... if the above words are indeed true.. Jesus Christ revealed to Paul the gospel.
And Paul went on to write through the inspiration of Jesus Christ....1Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, Therefore.... Jesus Christ did indeed condemn homosexuals through the apostle Paul.

Yes I do. That is a valid, yet post-modern and popular non-historical way to frame the developing Christian tradition--as long as we don't confuse Jesus' parables and aphorisms with Paul's doctrine and theology.
My larger point remains: That your denigration and name-calling of the marginalized and excluded among us does not measure up to any Jesus-based system of Christian ethics.
Getting back to the contest, here's a relevant late entry:
JESUS was a man: Statement of FACT.
JESUS was DIVINE: Statement of BELIEF.
CHRISTIANITY is seeing the DIVINE in the Man JESUS.

And Knight, Administrator(!) answered:
"Is that the best rebuttal you can come up with?"
It is interesting that one can come up with a blanket statement of sarcastic mocking instead of truthfully and cleanly meeting another's point. I am just surprised to hear this from an "administrator" on Theology On Line!
Yes, yes--it was the best I could do at the time. Although you're not exactly saying it was a bad rebuttal (and offering no evidence other than a critical denigration), any native speaker of English can tell that you are communicating sarcasm, ridicule and contempt.
Here are some more ideas for T-shirts. By the way, they're quotations from Jesus--not Paul:
LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, DO FAVORS FOR THOSE WHO HATE YOU.
BLESS THOSE WHO CURSE YOU; PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ABUSE YOU.
TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT THEM TO TREAT YOU.
IF YOU LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, YOU'LL BECOME CHILDREN OF YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
GOD CAUSES THE SUN TO RISE ON BOTH THE BAD AND THE GOOD, AND SENDS RAIN ON BOTH THE JUST AND THE UNJUST.
THE MOST HIGH IS EQUALLY GENEROUS TO THE UNGRATEFUL AND THE WICKED.
DON'T PASS JUDGEMENT, AND YOU WON'T BE JUDGED.
DON'T CONDEMN, AND YOU WON'T BE CONDEMNED.
FRIEND, WHO MADE ME YOUR JUDGE?
A lot of T-shirts and no one to wear them....
(all gospel quotations from the Scholar's Translation....)

How about posting on a more appropriate thread why you think one who professes to believe the teachings of Christ are dillusioned rather than cowardly posting something like this with no explaination.

Within this quote you have been sarcastic, judgemental and presumptuous. Did Jesus teach you this?

The same goes for you. Luke 17:3 "...If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him."
Using the same quotes from the Bible all the time, is it the only one you know? do you really think Jesus would punish.
To all of you presumptuous, jugemental, scornful, repetative, sarcastic Christians.
If you really want to believe, you must lose these words and all others.

If only it were all so simple: if only there were evil people "over there" which we could simply destroy those evil people and things would finally be all right. But all great wisdom teachers--including Jesus of Nazareth--knew that the dividing line between good and evil runs down the center of every human heart. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?

To someone who doesn't know the "ins-and-outs" of T-shirt printing, it would seem so. You may be thinking of the older method of "silk screening" where the T-shirt is stretched across a frame and ink is applied with a roller through stencils, then dried under a heat lamp.
Things have changed, and the "Adobe" process can be seen all around if you have the curiosity. It is much like a laser printer with a PC. Although it may involve outsourcing or a greater in-house expense, this "dry method" with transparency graphics, can accomodate very small designs and typing fonts.
If your point was that it was too long to attract the attention of the average believer--alas, that may be true. I find that most believers are technically literate, but they read with inattention or to merely confirm their own prejudices. It is much easier to believe what a pastor says about a Bible verse from the pulpit rather than dust off a concordance, a Greek/Hebrew/English dictionary and actually take the time to study and analyze a verse in its original context.

"Tell me, if you love those who love you, why should you be commended for that?
