Thought you all might like to know that TheologyOnline made press in the August 2003 issue of "Berean Searchlight" (a publication of the Berean Bible Society (BBS) at http://www.bereanbiblesociety.org )

Anyways, the BBS is well known for their promotion of 'The Mystery' and Paul's Gospel and have brought forth such names at C.R. Stam and Paul Sadler.

In the back of the current issue is a 'From Our Mailbag' section where subscribers write in with comments. Here is what one subscriber wroteFrom the Phillipines: "I was a Covenantalist until I was converted just recently to Mid-Acts Dispensationalism through a Forum site (Theology On-Line). In my readings of the discussions over the internet, I came to know about C.R. Stam. I also came to know that he wrote a book titled: The Fundamentals of Dispensationalism....... (and the letter continues from there

So, anyways, thought you all might like to know. Especially those who might have had a hand in sharing 'The Mystery' with this brother/sister from the Philippines.

Excellent stuff Truthman! I wonder if that is the person that Bob Hill briefly spoke to me about as becoming dispensationalist (and I think OpenView also!) although he used to be a covenantalist, I think it was a pastor from the Philippines. I second Knights encouragement for your hearty welcome and participation here at TOL. Thanks for the sharing the good news!

Wow. I went to the page and read it myself. Very cool. I don’t know who it is but I think 1Way might be right about the guy Bob Hill talks about. From reading the article it sounded to me like he is more a reader than a poster, but who knows.

When Bob Hill told me about that pastor, I was totally excited and said that is just outstanding! And Bob laughs with me and very much agreed. It makes me chuckle inside just to think about it. It’s hard enough to get the free willer’s to come onboard, but a Calvy seems quite the exception.

Yet interestingly, the fab five of the Open View fame (“Pinnock and others”) had a significant representation from the Reformed and Calvinistic persuasion, Clark Pinnock being the main figure and he was about as deep into the Reformed Calvinistic tradition as could be, they say that he was on the road to the top and being groomed to be there number one man for that sort of faith, and then Clark Pinnock turned a 180 and became open view! Talk about a real head turner! That was via John Sanders, he personally told me of some of this and John was also a well respected reformed theologian type and jumped boat with C.P.

BTW, I was blessed to be able to meet John Sanders in person and sat in on one of his classes which was a phenomenal class, he is super, he teaches bible in northeastern Indiana, and that is where I also met William Hasker, another of the 5 who co-authered “The Openness of God” book, and he is a warm and charming man, tall and grampa-fatherly type, but a little liberal, believes in a form of evolution verses the literal account.

And if it is the same person that Bob Hill spoke of, I am pretty certain he said he was open view too! Mystery man from the Philippines If you are out there (Mr. mystery writer from the Philippines and reader here on TOL), please be encouraged and may the Lord richly bless you and continue to lead you into a wonderful relationship with the Lord. :)

OK 1 Way, you have no sense of humor so let me walk you through it.

You see, it's a play on a recording artist who is a big fag, his name is Boy George. He had a hit with a song called 'Do You Really Wanna Hurt Me'. Now, Cry is a notorious anti Semite and she quickly hijacked this nice thread and turned it into a Jew Hating thread. I was simply playing along to point out her bigotry through humor.

Jew know what I mean???

It's all her fault! :nono:

That was just rude.

You could have had your chat somewhere else, but instead you covered up a very special discussion where we were honoring someone that evidently visits this site but apparently doesn’t post much, and so I posted an open message in a thin hope to reach them along with the rest of the first page posts inquiring about that person ...

... then you two buried it all with your spam fest and act like it's just fun and games.

I reported you two and asked that you be banned for being so inconsiderate, I would hope that the least you would do, is erase all your posts.

Where's my huge first page recap post? I posted a recap of the entire first page minus the rude interruptions and it is gone. I would like the moderator who did this to please contact me with the reason for their actions.

As to the ongoing rude parties. You can not reach the person through the mailbag, the publication receives mailing, it is not a forum for exchange other people's addresses for the sake of correspondence, he mentioned reading our forums so naturally since we are here, this should be a good location and way to try to find him. Lastly, since he has not already made himself known, I am trying to respect his sense of privacy. I don't want to force him to be recognized if he does not want to socialize and fellowship with us like minded TOL believers.

Threads naturally have some off topic posts, some more than others, it's the nature of conversation and debate, but you folks are doing nothing but spamming with chatting that can be done in your own thread so as to bother no one while you may freely chat all the same. Please simply take your off topic chatting to your own thread and respect the fact that other people are interesting in posting communications without so much interruption. The fact that others might treat you wrong, does not justify you doing wrong to others.

I don't think you'll get an argument out of CryTears, she probably feels exactly the same way. But, what does that have to do with posting a few jokes?

Yes, we do that quite often. [Usually on other peoples threads! :D]

Please simply take your off topic chatting to your own thread and respect the fact that other people are interesting in posting communications without so much interruption.

Actually, there has been minimal interest from other posters regarding this topic.

The fact that others might treat you wrong, does not justify you doing wrong to others.

Grow a backbone and stop whining, 1 Way, nobody is 'doing wrong' to anybody. :nono:

Actually, most of the posts here have been complaints from you about other posters being off topic which, in reality, is off topic itself!

I'm wondering....if a thread's topic changes and the majority of posts revolve around the 'new' topic, is the original, displaced topic no longer the pertinent topic?

If so, then posting responses to the original topic would technically be considered off topic! :freak:

In which case, the topic of this thread has now become 'thread topics'! :dizzy:

Were you online when you posted the re-do? Did you press enter? or submit?

Maybe you were on the wrong forum? Maybe you were at the Christian forum? If so they might wonder what you were talking about? maybe you should check?

Anyway, I didn't touch the re-do, nor will I, I am sorry your thread was ruined with wit and humor and intelligent laughter but I think the thread was over, the curtain had closed, the audience was gone, popcorn on the floor was all I saw when I got here, I saw Bepop in the alley and invited him on stage for a bit of a playful act. at the risk of poking the bear, if Mystery Man from the Phillipines has been lurking on this board, and may even be a posting member, what makes anyone think he ONLY read the important theological musings? Is it not possible he also reads, enjoys, and learns from the more light-hearted exchanges or even the angry discussions?

When my pastor presents his sermon, he almost always includes humor to make a point. And in regular conversations, even about weighty topics, he injects amusing anecdotes...and sometimes he just up and tells a good joke.

I'm sure Mystery man got the point from the initial posts on the thread that we are excited and pleased he has found a path to our Lord. But I don't think that then means he can't appreciate what was intended to be a comic exchange between our resident punster, BillyBob, and new foil Cry Tears.

There are times levity can be just as effective as pompous righteousness.;)
