Image of God #10

Posted November 12th, 2011 at 08:07 PM by Ted L Glines
According to Theists, the "image of God" (reversed) would have God with a face like Zeus, two arms with stinky armpits, a belly button, two legs which reach the ground, and a cosmic-sized ego. Maybe (oh, afterlife epiphany) God is shaggy but rocking in your chair, smoking a pipe and philosophizing, and wearing clothes, and booming His perfect animalness. Who knew? All of TOL will love you if you post an autographed photo of God. We are dying to see if God has fins.

Infinite Consciousness

We might differentiate between 'God' and an 'image' of 'God'. 'Real God' would be prior to any image whatsoever. - the primordial essence, awareness, spirit-energy, the void from which all springs, the fullness of all that is, the unmanifest, matrix of everything. The images arise as forms within consciousness communicating 'this' or 'that' within the greater Awareness.

Inside the wondering mind of a man who does not know if there is a God -- an image forms. If the image is powerful enough, the image will come to rule him, even though he still does not know if there is a God. I wonder how many annoying religions have been started, just like that LOL

One Substance

But when the 'images' of 'God' are surrendered, released back to 'nothingness',...what is left? Here we consider that there is that which is before any images, concepts or thoughts,..but is the ground or source from which such arise as a play of perception in the mind. 'God' is that source-reality and 'heart' from which all springs, and has their existence, - all comes from God and returns to God, for all there is....is that One substance, and its many forms wherein relationships appear.
