I don't know why people find it so hard to use good or common sense manners.
Or why people are so willfully lazy, crass, ignorant, or poorly informed.
Or why people believe they're actually watching something worthwhile when they watch the news.

Why don't folks get angry over something that matters? Football, traffic, the price of gas: sorry, but these don't really matter the way other things do.
What happened to the tough strapping self-sufficient American? Did he ever actually exist or is he just one of many national myths we pine over?
White collar workers do their jobs in cubicles smaller than prison cells on death row.
Why do some parents laugh as their toddlers pitch a fit?

Ahh, the honeymoon period...
If you want manners and self sufficiency you should move to my neck of the woods. We're even polite to Yankee expatriots and adopt them after they've survived August with reasonable good humor and a measure of grace. ![]() |
