Witchcraft in Wasilla

Posted September 25th, 2008 at 08:02 AM by Granite
I thought this kind of backwards ignorant paranoid half-witted lunacy went out of favor in the Dark Ages. Guess I was wrong.

She who would be veep was, evidently, blessed by a Kenyan minister in 2005 in an attempt to shield her from witchcraft and, I quote, "python spirits."

This vapid, talentless mediocrity has been shielded from the press from day one. She's given carefully controlled interviews (really: who expected Hannity to give her grief?) and has been protected from the inquiring eye of the media. At first I thought that the McCain campaign was concerned that their poorly-vetted pick was being kept from scrutiny lest the country realize Sister Sarah was merely a better-looking Dan Quayle. Now I wonder.

Not only is she a lightweight, folks, she's also a nut. It's not every day a small-town mayor imports an African reverend to lay hands and invoke the power of the Holy Spirit to protect you from...python spirits.

If Sarah was merely an uncurious, poorly informed neophyte, that'd be one thing. But she presumes to claim she's prepared to serve as vice president, with all the implicit trust and judgment that office carries with it.

It's apparent her grasp of policy is weak, her foreign affairs experience non-existent, her cronyism well-embedded, and her flippancy and tunnel vision beyond question.

All of this I might be able to forgive were it not for this woman's deranged, alarming, and frightful need for protection against the power of...witchcraft. Yeeeees, you heard me right. Heebie-jeebies. Boo-birds. Devils and the like.

Maybe things are different in Wasilla. Who knows; maybe Alaska's plethora of meth clinics are the fruits and labors of the state's considerable infernal population.

Then again, maybe it's just this simple: she's off her rocker, folks.

She could seriously challenge Dubya Bush for the Lowest Presidential IQ award.

I truly don't care who wins anymore. "Either way we're screwed" has gone from being a funny line to the sad reality.
