Time to chill out....so who are you ? - April 27th, 2008, 05:53 PM

Well, I have posted a whopping great 108 posts (that includes this one) and I think I like it here. I am a bit of an oddball...being a tree hugging hippie who happens to play an Epiphone Jumbo six string steel and write my fingers off and do the occassional oil pastel painting, but I love my Lord Jesus and am passionate about theology and a little apologetics....hence the reason I am here.

Just awhile back I was asked...what denomination are you, and what is your faith background by godzrules...and I guess I wanted to find out what sort of denominations you belong too and what sort of faith background you come from.

I am sort of somewhere between a Baptist-Assemblies of God-Calvary Chapel, but I think I might end up being a Quaker...but that is not really up to me as the Lord is still working on this old heart of mine...Jesus saved me when I was nineteen and baptised me with the Holy Spirit that same year. It has been a rough road, but I have made some amazing friends.

So.! tell me...what DENOMINATION are ye all, and what is your faith background...?

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

Anglican or Episcopalian, both mean about the same thing in the states. Anglicans have more liturgy, while Episcopalians are more sermon oriented as are Methodists

I'm Christian. I was raised by a father who was atheist and a mother who was First Church of Christ, Scientist, but she quit going there when her mother died. I was about eight, then; I'm 52 now, and don't believe in denominations, I believe in Jesus. The church I go to is called, Word of Faith, Cincinnati. The pastor is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center, and has several other degrees.

I love R.A. Torrey's writing, pity BIOLA does not take him that seriously anymore.

I am non-churched. I have been considering a slow mosey back towards the Discordianism of my youth, however. Just for kicks. And to have something to say when people ask me what religion I am.

I'm a strong Atheist. I believe there is no God.

I have had run-in with Baptists, Pentecostals and Latterday Saints and been singulaly unimpressed with them all.

The Baptist Pastor was a perv, he had his eye on my girlfirend... the Pentecostals had an after-church club where they really show their true colours (talking crazy and flapping about) and the latter day saints were just crazy.( the ones I met obviously ).

I guess I have always been an Atheist although I was once convinced enough to make a declaration I believed at the time that Jesus is my Saviour ect.

Since being on ToL I have discovered it doesn't matter what I said or believed back then because of OSAS, if I'm not saved now I couldn't possibly have been saved then or I would believe now... because Jesus would be in me and i'd be currently resting in Him, and i'd now believe in a young earth, so I obviously didn't mean it despite at the time thinking I did or something like that.

Seems to me like you are suffering from paranoia, not atheism...
