I still do not know what can be done to eliminate endless conflicts between theists and atheists. But comments collected at several websites prompted me to compose a short on-line paper at:

In your paper you pose three questions.
Is it desirable to end such confrontations?
Is it possible to end them?
If yes, then how?
Unless the answer to the first question is "Yes," the second and third questions are irrlevent. It is unclear to me that the answer is "Yes" to the first question, but clearly you must believe it is or you wouldn't have developed the paper or asked the question.
Why do you believe the answer is yes to the first question?

I think the answer to question 1 has to be a BIG NO.
A yes answer would just suppress all discussion of the Bible and Christianity. For 2000 years Christianity has been successful because the Church has successfully suppressed all criticism. Critics were literally burned at the stake. It wasn't healthy to be a Skeptic.
But a new day is dawning. The internet has opened discussion and examination of the Scriptures and Christianity. Lets see how this turns out.

I believe in the dialectical process. That's how the truth is hashed out.

Both sides will have to give up something for a compromise. I know, theists can give up their belief in God and atheists can give up believing their is no God.

That would make everyone soft atheists.

There is no room for compromise. Either the story is true or it is not.
Let's find out.
Because both can be held simultaneously. The first step in understanding this is to realise that 'truth' can depend on one's perspective - it depends on which 'side' you're standing.
