The HORROR! Old age at last... -
November 13th, 2011, 02:17 PM
It's finally started. I may as well go to the garage, pick up the ol' shovel, and start digging my grave.
Let's back up a moment...
I have never suffered from hair loss. I am 35 and still have as much hair on my head as I did in high school. I've also never had a single gray hair.
Until I started growing my beard again.
I used to have a beard, but recent jobs have prevented me from growing one. I now have a boss that consented. My daughter got to choose what I was going to be for Halloween. She picked an "old Nevada silver prospector." She told me that I had to grow out my beard as part of the costume. My boss said no problem.
I've always had dark brown hair on the top of my head and a red beard and mustaches. Must be the Irish blood.
To my dismay, this time around I've started to notice gray hairs here and there. My children this this is a source of great fun.
It's started...
I will put up with it, however, if it means finally being able to keep a beard.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

ITT 35 year old boy think's he's "old".
Destroy another fetus now, we don't like children anyhow, I've seen the future baby......... It is Murder.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

Yeah....I feel you. I thought I was old when I was 35 also. It took me a few years before I realized that I was actually just entering my prime.

My daughter used to ask Steve if she could pull out his gray hairs (he couldn't grow a beard because he worked in law enforcement). He would tell her, "No. If you do that, I will grow two for every one you pull out."

Don't know if it's true or not. But, I don't worry about my own gray hairs. I've got what my daughter calls "witch's streaks" (gray streaks from my temples about an inch wide).
My grandmother had steel gray hair from age 40 and my grandfather was bald long before 40. I'm 42 (43 in a little more than a month) and have silver/gray streaks. My mom's 63 and has very little gray. Her hair's still light auburn.

I've had white mixed into my hair since I was barely into my twenties. My mother had the same thing in her twenties, so I could blame her, but I also inherited her unruly abundance in that department, which I'm thankful for.
If it bothers you then color it.
All of which is to say count your blessings, or if they seem insufficient you can always buy your way out of it.

I have a pretty serious case of the old "male pattern" myself and started going grey mid-thirties. A couple of years ago I got sick of dealing with it altogether and shaved it all off. Funny thing is, since I've done that, for the first time in my life, I'm passing for younger than I really am.
Go figure.

My other half did the same thing once his hair started thinning. It's the best way to go IMO... and it looks hot
