Banned from AtheistForums.Com -
February 12th, 2012, 06:14 PM
Since a big interest of mine is the validity of an ontological proof for God's existence (in particular, the evidence of God's existence from created ideas in the mind), I decided to test my ideas against real live atheists.
In particular, I posted in this thread. I posted as "The Platonist." You can see my posts towards the middle-bottom of that page until I finally got banned around page 47.
I also posted from page 1 of this thread to roughly page 2.
They banned me for trolling.
I warn you: there's seriously bad language and blasphemy in both of these threads (not from me, mind you).
The moral of the story? It really is the fool who has said in his heart: there is no God (Psalm 53:1).
PS: Knight said that I could post this. I asked permission.

So it would seem. I met quite a few of their type at university. Not only did they tend to be rude and stupid but also vaguely aggressive toward anybody who read an arts subject and extremely dull conversationalists.
There are equally obnoxious equivalents to such people among the ranks of the religious, of course. In any case, that sort of individual is the number one reason I'd never join an 'Atheists and Agnostics Society'.
Seriously, though: trolling? I haven't been accused of trolling since I was an undergrad.

They did keep warning you that unless you provide scientific evidence for God or stopped posting, you'd be punished.
Now I'm quite aware that asking for physical proof of a metaphysical concept/empirical evidence of a being who precedes perception is an unreasonable and indeed nonsensical request, but you probably should have seen it coming all the same...

Pardon me for making sense and being reasonable.

You should know better than that by now, Trad. This is the internet!
But to them, you weren't making any sense. You were simply being 'irrational'. They think all rational must be objectively based. Before you could show them any rational for the existence of God, you'd first have to try and get them to accept that logic and reason are not the purely objective impulse that they imagine them to be. And I think that would be very difficult, as it's always difficult to get people to accept an idea that they are determined not to accept.

You say that like it's a bad thing or something.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.

Well, it doesn't surprise me Trad. What you were doing there is a lot like what some do here, only you handled yourself in a quite more civil manner. It's an atheists forum and what happens to you happens all the time. You can't really explain something intangible through intellectual means, except to people who are somewhat credulous and willing to believe. Atheists aren't the most credulous folk. That's their perogative and you just have to go with the flow man.
Seriously, though, this was basically the conversation:
Atheist: Show me sum of the length of the sides of this square.
Platonist: Let me see, if the length one of the sides is 4, and there are 4 sides...
Atheist: No, no! We want you to use pi.
Platonist: But you only use pi when we're talking about circles.
Atheist: If you don't want to use pi to figure out this problem, then you're not welcome in this thread.
Platonist: But we're talking about squares. We literally can't do that.
Atheist: If you keep posting without figuring in pi, we're going to ban you.
Platonist: Fine, fine. If you're going to insist on this, tell me what pi is and tell me what a square is.
Atheist: I don't have to do that. You know what those things are. You define it and tell me what it is.
Platonist: Right. So pi only applies to circles...
Atheist: BAN!
