I wondered about the plastic look as well. I'm told that they are, in fact, plastic covers for purposes of hiding identity. Perhaps they had tattoos that were identifiable? Am I just being naive? Is this not an actual photo of humans?

Why do you say that, zoo?
Their clothing and accessories seem far too realistic and detailed. The man who sent the photo to me is military and indicated that it was authentic.
I'm not doubting you, because I'm not 100% convinced, but I wonder how you can be so certain unless you know something that I don't. The plastic look can be explained as military often have plastic covers to hide distinguishing features such as tattoos or scars.
