Question: The Exile of Judah to Babylon + Destruction in 70AD -
April 14th, 2012, 12:17 PM
Recently someone here on TOL posted some verse references, starting with a passage in Jeremiah that uses the word "visit" in it.
Then also Jesus said what he said in the gospel of Luke.
And then there was the destruction in 70AD.
So my impression was that this person was saying Jeremiah was speaking of this destruction. But I was thinking, in looking into it "just a bit", that since Jeremiah lived in Judah before the exile to Babylon, that in all likelihood this is what he was speaking about.
I'd like to look into this more to see if I am correct.
Luke 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:13 (KJV) To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Was Jeremiah speaking of Judah in the time of their defeat and exile to Babylon, or after their return culminating in the destruction in 70AD?
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Sodom and Gomorrah also had a time of visitation.
Genesis 18:20-21
20And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
The children of Israel had a time of visitation while in Egypt that did not result in their destruction.
Exodus 3:16
Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt:

I was thinking as I was reading the verses I provided above, does visitation have to do with God's judgment or God's love for His people?
I came across this verse:
Jeremiah 50:31 Behold, I [am] against thee, [O thou] most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time [that] I will visit thee.
So it can mean judgment, from my vantage point.
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

It can mean judgment, true.
Exodus 32:34
Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
Can it also mean something else?
Psalm 106:4
Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Jeremiah 29:10

Thanks. It can mean something else, I was thinking, but I didn't have a particular verse partly because the question in my mind was if visitation means judgment (thinking of 70AD) when Jesus came not to condemn the world but to save the world.
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

It's two different events, - ALL before the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70, everything was just a shadow of the time to come and the destruction of Jerusalem. - Jerusalem is the fulfillment of all Scriptures!! -- Luke 21:22 KJV ---//-- Up until Jerusalem all things were carnal, and Jesus finally brought in the Spiritual of anything, and everything!! -- That's where we get, Old "THINGS" are passed away, behold, ALL THINGS ARE MADE NEW, and again by Jesus, the Word of Truth!!! -- Even Jesus was the carnal Parable of the Spiritual GOD and Father, and now we have a Spiritual God and Father in the Heavens, and We who are Spiritual are the heirs of the Spiritual, not the carnal!!
There is not anything after the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70!! - That's when ALL direct inspiration from God ended to all people. Now just the inspiration from the Scriptures ONLY, which is still the same supreme wisdom and knowledge that God of Old poured out on Pentecost and now IS!!!
Paul -- 041412
---Gal. 4:16.
---"Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth"???

Can you see that Jeremiah spoke of what would occur with the Chaldeans?
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

COME ON!!!!
There is not "ANYTHING" that has not happened to "EVERYTHING"!! - That's the fulfilling all things FULL!! - There is nothing that has escaped "ANYTHING" "NOW", it's OVER!!! - All of you will see with your eyes opened, it's called, "QUICKENED"!! - YOU WILL SEE WHAT'S ALREADY THERE, --- BUT WHO CARES!!!
