That was in 1983, and you were 13. Now the year is 2006, and I dont see American clamoring for those jobs. Plus, you were 13. Not a bad first job, I bet you learned a good work ethic from it. The first job I had was stocking shelves at the local market. Now, are the Mexican taking jobs away from hardworking 13 year olds, and keeping them from picking strawberries?
What jobs are Mexicans taking from Americans? High paying corporate jobs? Or jobs that Americans dont want to do?
Well who knows but the point is everyone needs to be a legal.
I don't think many complain as long as the people are legal.

As some of you know, I am a General Contractor currently building a new house for my family. On the same lot, I am building a shop for my business and I opted to build and finish it before the house.
I hired a drywall contractor at a ridiculously low price to hang and finish the drywall in my 900 square foot 'out-building'. The contractor was a 'White Guy' but the crew he sent to my job site was Mexican. Out of the four of them, only one spoke English and only if I used 'sign language' in combination with my very articulate English. While they hanged and finished the drywall to industry standards, they fell way short in other areas, such as neatness, professionalism, promptness, communication, etc. [the whole bull:PureX: hype about Mexicans being great workers is nothing more than commie propaganda]
I was pleased with the drywall work for the most part but completely displeased with their work ethic, sloppiness and general disregard for my home and property and told the 'White Guy' I originally hired about it. I also told him that I don't want any illegal Mexicans on my jobsite and if he wants the drywall contract on my house, he needs to only send white guys or I'll find another contractor. I also told him I would rather pay more money and hire Americans to hang my drywall than to have illegal aliens on my jobsite.

Would it be OK to send a Black Guy? I hear they have an extra bone in their ankle and listen to rap music real loud and will be an hour late. So you might stick to your original idea of only hiring white guys.

No, I don't like blacks either. They start drinking beer before they even show up on the jobsite, are NEVER on time, leave early, don't speak English any better than Mexicans [but they never shut up!] and they smell just as bad.
I'll stick with good old American white folks from here on out.
