This is how they trapped you
I guess the way I got trapped was actually believing my own Christian parents when they raised me to see other people as worthwhile and basically good. And knowing that everyone has good intentions at bottom--it's just a matter of expressing those underlying feelings and emotions in such a way that does not do damage to their own or other's divine human worth.

I also got bamboozled by not getting lectures, sermons or pronouncements from my parents, but by being taught awareness and how to recognize and pay attention to virtues such as love and respect. In that way, all of us learned that it is actions, not words, that matter. My mother and dad showed us how to act without telling us how.

I guess that is the main differnce we got trapped into learning how to stand up and defend others who are marginalized and misunderstood.

And how did YOUR parents trap YOU?

Unless, that is, they happen to be the evil George Bush or Dick Cheney, right?

Or innocent children.

You so transparent, my repressed little tot. Have you ever looked at why you react the way you do in this thread? Why your buttons get pushed?

Maybe you should ask the people who installed your buttons in the first place. Do you remember them?

I see a stupid person who thinks he is clever making stupid statements and enjoy pointing out his stupidity, which he then demonstrates by making some stupid comment about "tot", "man-lover", "codpiece" "Cwistian" or some other equally inane comment.

Thanks for the laughs, clever-boy!

Understandable. You have obviously long used such defensive reactions as a way to cope with your own upbringing. Nothing new. "Stupid" and "Clever"are merely dysfunctional ways of mislableling someone who is happy in their own skin and was raised in a loving, open-hearted family. They have been used over and over again from time immemorial, all through history, by those who suddenly find themselves in the same situation you find yourself in.

You clearly "own" the problem here. Be accountable for that and don't try to somehow make it mine. I can see your frustration, but I can make no apology to you for that.

My "frustration"?

Projecting yourself onto others again? Imagining GW's "codpiece" again?
