Why would "his heart be filled with uneasiness and guilt" if he doesn't agree with your stance on abortion? Annoyance, contempt, alienation, and resentment, I could understand. But guilt?

Do you honestly think picketing the guy's house is going to get him to stop doing abortions? More likely it'll get him to call the cops . . . .
Its things like this that make Christians look like crazy idiots.
Work within the system to talk to pregnant women in crisis and/or change the laws or not at all. Stuff like this isn't the Lord's work . . . it does the exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish.

Do you think those that marched during the civil rights movement were accused of looking like idiots also? I mean come on! They were beaten, sprayed with hoses, isolated, ....

Really? Condemning and exposing evil and wickedness isn't "the Lord's work"? Could you help me out by explaining to me what exactly is "the Lord's work"?

Did the civil rights movement go to individual houses and tell them they were going to hell? The civil rights movement was characterized by public marches, huge numbers of people and was eventually codified into law. You want to change things, you should follow the same pattern.

Do you want to save babies, or just tell a guy how evil he is on the streetcorner of his house? Do you think the guy is unaware of he abortion debate and the position of the "other side"?

This kind of activity borders on gang stalking and does a tremendous disservice to the pro-life movement.
Theocrats are Social Darwinists.
Christianity has nothing applicable, appropriate, or worthwhile to offer the 21st century.

What did the prophets do?
Did Jesus ever confront someone directly and tell them that they were evil, or wicked, or of their father the Devil?

That abortions are immoral is difficult to question, regardless of one's ethical assumptions. It involves taking life, maybe human life late in the term, maybe sentient life, although sentience is only beginning to appear at birth. The Buddhist edict to preserve and protect all sentient life, then, informs me that an abortion is not ethically acceptable.
The real question on these boards, however, does not seem to be whether abortions are a moral thing or not. Everyone seems to agree that they are not. The real question is, instead, whether or not they should be illegal--subject to criminal penalty.
That I think something is immoral does not mean I should try to get it rendered illegal. Our private morals are our our private morals; the criminal statutes are public and I have no moral right to use whatever political power I may have to impose my morals on the general public. All I can do in the public area is to try to set a good example in my own life. Otherwise I must worry about my own behavior and avoid judging others.
Criminal law is to protect society, not public morals. Unless a clear case can be made that an act positively harms society--and this cannot be an emotional reaction but must be an objective decision, then society has no business making it illegal. Separating our emotions from our rational objectivity is sometimes difficult, but it is essential.
...All I can do in the public area is to try to set a good example in my own life. Otherwise I must worry about my own behavior and avoid judging others....
If you were out in public and you saw a man beat a kid with a baseball bat and then steal his bicycle...would you not judge the man who did such a thing?
Or would you just be concerned about yourself and set a good example of not judging him?
