Marbled lungfish - more 'CSI' than humans? - July 23rd, 2011, 11:00 AM

I posted this on another forum and got no response from creationists...

The Marbled Lungfish, Protopterus aethiopicus, has a genome of 133 billion basepairs. The human genome has around 3.

If, as YEC/IDC genetics and 'information' experts like Jon Wells declare, most or even all noncoding DNA is functional and thus in possession of CSI, then there is no way around the fact that this lowly lungfish has 44 times as much CSI as humans do.

This means that YEC/IDC 'CSI = Design by Jehovah' types are going to have a hard time reconciling their bible-based belief that humans are so special with the simple biological fact that via their preferred means of determining meaning (and thus CSI), lungfish are 44 times more special to God than we are.

I know why you got no response.

Is it because CSI is poorly defined?

I wondered what lungfish could possibly have to do with immensely popular and overly dramatic TV series.

Because few give a rat's behind about evolution. It's a non-issue.

...Apart from the majority of scientists, that is.

If you think public indifference to evolution is bad, it's nothing compared to particle physics.
