Sadly, Acme Industries went out of business. After Obama care was introduced they fired 20% of their work staff in an attempt to survive the added expense of the Healthcare plan. With not enough workforce to meet the demand, their products suffered to live up to the quality that their customers were accustomed. Sales, sputtered, revenues dropped further and eventually they closed shop. There was talk of the entire operation moving to Mexico but with the whole drug cartel mess they decided against it.

Knight -

I am now "in the green", as I threatened before. How do I create photo albums, or upload pictures? Also, how does one create an avatar? Sorry, i am terribly new to this.

Awesome site btw, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

You can create picture albums and upload images in your user profile page. Just click Add Album. Once you add an album you can upload images to it.

You can find out about avatars here. Basically you need a small 100x100 pixel .jpg image and you can upload it through your usercp.

"don't just biff when you fall off a cliff". In other words we teach our kids that mentally they need to be prepared to battle gravity if they ever fall off of a cliff, fall out of an airplane, etc. Sure, sure, you can only fight gravity for a few seconds but sometimes those few seconds are all you need to get your legs moving (in a running motion) in mid-air so you can scoot back to the edge of the cliff or door of the airplane to safety.

By the way... great question.

Thanks for the response. Lots to think about.

Knight,

Would it be possible to set up a sub-forum in which the thread starter is in control of the thread?

Looking for a way that like minds can study together without the nay-sayers.
In other words, one needs to ask for permission to join the thread, and be granted the permission to be able to post in it.

Chicken Man had a similar thread about the MID ACTS position.
It was great!
But he wasn't in control of thread, and it had to be moderated.

It might be difficult to set up each thread starter with control of the thread; but can you create a sub-forum in which the RULES are set that one must ask the thread starter if they can participate before posting in the thread (preferably by PM)?

I realize that some may jump in without asking the thread starter.
But those can be reported, and a moderator can delete their post.

At least with a separate sub-forum with RULES, it might have to be a little less moderated.

And the RULES should also include a clause that if the thread starter asks someone to leave the thread, they must discontinue posting in that thread. (Perhaps they have become too argumentative for the thread to flow as intended).

If the thread-starter begins with a question, which he only wants answered a certain way, it is up to him to establish within the OP, the exact answers and answerers he will accept on his thread.

Why ask a question to only generate one's own answers?

That is nothing but an opinionated blog.

. . . Not a contribution to a discussion group.

You're talking about a thread that is already going on in a forum where any Christian can post.

I'm asking about a sub-forum where only like-minded Christians (or at least those that want to explore the view in a positive manner) can discuss it at length without all the nay-sayers.

And I'm asking so there can be a place where things like what is going on in that thread can be avoided.
Some have expressed a desire for something like this.

No "nay-saying" occurred on the Thread to which you refer. Only requests for definition of the OPs terminology.

Calvinists would also like to post their views without being opposed and condemned by "nay-Sayers" but we realize we can post blogs defining our views all across the web.

TOL is supposed to be a Theological Discussion Forum.

Any who post a thread should expect nothing less than other views, unless their intent is solely to spam.

And you could with a sub-forum that I suggested.

Quote:

And you still can if you want.
But a sub-forum on this site would generate more hits for this site.

And it still would be.
There are plenty of forums on this site where anyone can post.

I'm suggesting an ADDED feature to the site; not a new rule for the whole site.
And others have expressed a desire for it too.

You don't have to use the feature.

We already have forums here where all can express opposing views, argue, and insult.
What's the harm in having one for non-opposing views where bickering would be practically non-existent?
