Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed -

I am relatively new here, but I noticed this statement on the masthead. And I found it strange, and in the end, almost incomprehensible. Can someone explain to me please:
1. What is is attempting to say?
2. Better in what way and to whom?
3. Why open rebuke is compared to concealed love, and not to expressed love?
Rebuke is love. That is one problem you don't understand. Love is an action, not an emotion. As defined biblicaly. It is a simple concept really. If your neighbor's house was burning down, would you tell them?
Slogan/motto:
Ecclesiastes 10:10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.

Yup, what Nick said. Loving someone quietly in your heart is not loving them. Telling them you love them is loving them. Telling them, "Don't touch that! It's hot!" is even more loving.

so am I supposed to tell you that you are an idiot?

Thanks.
If one loves then one will have occasion to openly rebuke.
It is the manner in which the rebuke is given that requires thought.
I have noticed that most of us do not care to be rebuked.
Nevertheless....

Do you think I'm an idiot? And am I?
Well, then yeah! How else am I gonna know?
Dumbass.

See how that works?
Now, how harsh you are in saying that should depend on harsh you need to be, of course. Like, I think you miss some great opportunities to debate and make a good point to people who need it quite often. And how I find that frustrating because I think you have the capability of doing that and you waste it.
So, to you I'd probably say...
Well, yeah, actually that.
And, so, I just showed the love I have for you, rather than carefully concealing it.

Hey we agree on sumpin', concerning, how love rebukes those in need, .......but, you need to learn that cursing someone is not rebuking them, and it does not come from love, but hate......

It was unkind of me to label you a misogynist. I said it in anger, never a helpful thing. I apologize to you and hope that you will forgive me.

I have been interested in the comments so far, but no-one has actually answered my questions. For instance, Nick said:

A rebuke can be love, but it may not be. I understand christian love is an action, or at least a chosen attitude, not an emotion. And yes, I would tell them. So we agree there pretty much, but is that what the quote means?
I would be very interested, Nick, in your answers to my 4 questions. And anyone else's.
