Republicans hate women? - March 21st, 2012, 03:06 PM

There was an article in a newspaper recently (which article, by the way, is a prime example of why I do not read newspapers). The article – surprise, surprise (!) – made absolutely no attempt at objectivity. What is worse, the author didn’t even bother to hide her extreme bias. And, of course, there was no conservative counterpart.

It was same-old-same-old: Republicans do not care about women. Please…

Alongside this article was a cartoon supporting the author’s bigotry against conservatives. It showed a stereotypical older White, balding male conservative accusing a young woman he was speaking to of being a slut because she did not, as a single person, live a celibate life.

Of course, I thought (knew) the guy was right-on. But, needless to say no one who reads this cartoon is supposed to think that. No, we are supposed to hate this judgmental, ignorant “buffoon.”

It’s called Political correctness.

Ho hum… same-old-same-old… I'm bored…

But anyhow, needless to say, there are many people in this nation, & in the world, who believe that people (not just women) are wrong to engage in pre-marital sex. Some people know all too well, through that second-best teacher of all, Experience (God being the 1st, of course) just how wrong it is to fornicate.

Oh, horrors… (!!) I'm using that archaic, judgmental F word!

But anyhow, many who have committed this sin (Oh my goodness, another archaic, judgmental word!!) - at least many in the baby-boom generation - would say that such mistakes of theirs “happened long ago,” when they were much younger, less mature – and/or when they didn’t know God.

OK, if people do not choose to believe in God – meaning the Judeo-Christian God – well, How about the “God” of logic…?

Is it logical to give your whole self to someone who is not necessarily committed to you? Does it make sense to give yourself, heart & body, to someone you do not really know (and really, Does anyone really “know” anyone??), to a relationship you cannot ascertain with certainty will last even until tomorrow, much less a year or 20 years from tomorrow?

I'm weary of such liberal nonsense… this prejudiced, ignorant stuff about how Republicans favor the rich, don’t like (this or that) group… yada yada… We all know that those who engage in such tactics are… well, probably desperate, for one. They must somehow know or at least suspect that they are wrong… just don’t want to admit it… (maybe they don’t want to give up their sexually amoral behavior… even if it is self-destructive)

It is sophomoric (among other things) to say that Republicans do not like women, especially considering that we Republicans like women FAR more than the Democrat party does. We are the ones who desire to protect them from the predatory ways of commitment-phobic males - of which there seems to be no lack.

A woman who declines to sleep with a man before marriage will avoid some terrible consequences: sexually transmitted disease; the emotional trauma that ensues when she finds out her “boyfriend” doesn’t really care about her… is just using her, & - what can be one of the most problematic of all consequences - an “unwanted” pregnancy (although there is no such thing, since there are many couples waiting to adopt)

And, that worst of all consequence: abortion.

I wish people would read up on Post Abortion Syndrome. I would not wish such a condition on my…

uh… on liberals even…

Abortion not only kills children, it destroys women - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually - not to mention that it sometimes actually kills the woman (physically).

Many women who have had an abortion, even when they know that Jesus Himself forgives them, cannot forgive themselves. They suffer, sometimes their whole life, from nightmares, depression, self-destructive behavior, etc… & not only do women & children suffer, but men do as well. For one thing, men have no rights. If a man wants the child his wife or girlfriend does not want, there is nothing he can do to stop… the execution. Grandparents & siblings also suffer from the loss of the child. People even miss a child they thought they wanted aborted…

And so, all of society is harmed by legalized abortion. Even those who have never had an abortion & do not know anyone who has had one (very RARE) suffer in that they have to live their everyday lives knowing that there is all this horrible torture going on in the world & they can’t do much about it. & all this is going on in a country that is supposed to be “civilized”… “advanced”

Objectively speaking, it is the Republicans who truly love women, & society.

It is not merely a matter of a person’s freedom to do as he chooses, including the choice of whether or not to engage in pre-marital sex. I do not advocate (and no Republican running for office has ever advocated [that I know of]) outlawing fornication. On the other hand, society has no reason to encourage it…

The state has an interest in discouraging sexual immorality/promiscuity.

The state has an interest in keeping taxes down, so as not to overburden people (some of whom make only minimum wage). Especially no one wants to overburden those who do not believe in this kind of behavior, yet are forced to financially support it (welfare) anyway. Republicans are correct to maintain that Americans should be allowed to keep as much of THEIR lawfully earned money as possible. They are right in thinking it is unjust that people who work hard should have to hand over huge chunks of their income to support those who do not - those who are habitually irresponsible, those who are, apparently, too busy having fun making babies (they have no intention of taking care of) to work themselves. Then these poor, illegitimate children are victimized by (for one) having to grow up fatherless. Seventy percent of men in US prisons – some of whom are there for life - grew up without a father

That being said, I realize that some people are “irresponsible” because they have never been taught a better way (were not brought up Christian or what have you). I feel that sometimes the Left goes to one extreme in their viewpoints on this kind of thing & the Right goes to the other extreme, when we should all realize that sometimes people act irresponsibly without realizing they are, objectively speaking, doing so. In other words: most of us can relate to being young… unthinking… particularly to being young in a world where there is not always (is never?) a clear distinction between right & wrong.

In other words, people do not always see the future consequences of their actions very clearly (Understatement of the Year). As Christians say it: we are all fallen, all sinners. So I am not saying… well, you know… all those things Dems habitually accuse Republicans of saying…

But enough digressing… Back to the consequences of amoral behavior, or at least this one more:

A far greater number of single mothers are at or below the poverty line than are married women or single women without children. Obviously this hurts her & her children…

To sum up:

The liberals seem to be saying, “Sure, here’s some money, Honey. Have all the kids you want… Oh, you don’t want this one? Well have a free abortion… No problem. & here are some can’t-be-trusted-to-work-Bad-for-your-health-and-cause-early-abortion birth control pills too… all free from Big Brother”

In other words: “Here’s a rope - now go & hang yourself.”

What if I just give someone my body and not my heart? By the way, even marriages aren't guaranteed to last a year, let alone 20. There are no guarantees in life, except death and taxes.

The pain comes from knowing that we have never been safe, and therefore will never be safe again. It comes from knowing we can never be so ignorant again. It comes from knowing we can never be children again. Losing innocence. Remembering heaven. That was the essence of hell. -John Jakes

Then you're just using another person to masturbate.

Are you sure they aren't giving you their heart to some degree, or even in totality? Are you willing to risk hurting another person like that for a little sexual pleasure? And are you sure you can really divorce your heart from the act to begin with? Why would you even want to?

It's just a foolish, dangerous thing to do, no matter how you cut it.

Marriage isn't a crap shoot. If you don't understand what you're getting into and what you need to do to make it work, and if you aren't particular about marrying someone who likewise understands...then it is much more a game of chance. With some big, big chips on the table.

Like anything in life it's subject to utter disasters of chance...like, say, death...but like anything else in life you can avoid all that if you bother with understanding what you're getting into before you jump in head first. The modern "odds" of divorce are due almost entirely to far too many people not understanding what the heck they're getting into when they marry.

Like f'rinstance, I'm reading a book right now, off and on, about why women cheat. I borrowed it from a friend when I read the inside cover. How women initiate divorce in three quarters of all cases, typically in their late twenties to late thirties, after about four years of marriage, on average. Typically because they're already cheating.

So, yeah, that's me. So I snatched that book right up, thinking for a minute largely as you do here. That something terrible might descend out of nowhere and tempt me to such a thing. Now I kinda feel like I'm wasting my time reading it. Might return it before I finish it even. It's about what I would have otherwise guessed, and I find it pretty sad that it even needs to be written. Women get married and after a while they lose interest in sex. That goes on for a while, then they bump into some other guy that reawakens their desire. They confuse that with love and their lack of interest sexually in their husbands as having fallen out of love. So they cheat, trying to have "love" and do right by their husbands.

Instead of knowing a thing at all about marriage when they decided to get married and realizing that lack of interest in sex was entirely avoidable to begin with. And even if you stumble into it, can be stumbled right back out of. But that all, of course, requires effort. That messy stuff that this new "love" interest doesn't require...at least until you're in the same situation with that guy a few years down the road.

Basically, people don't generally get divorced because it's some risk you take when you get married. Some random variable that you're forced to only hope doesn't strike your marriage down out of nowhere. It's because they have no idea what they're doing, how to be married. They assume it's all going to just fall into place and, when it doesn't, don't want to face having to conform themselves to their marriage. They expect the universe to just hand them that kind of love on a silver platter.

But back to the point:

Guaranteed? No, but reliable if you know what you're getting into beforehand.

Some random game of chance, over which you have no control? Not hardly.

Truth: How about a citation to the newspaper or writer? Link? Or is this one of those memories of yours that doesn't work like that.

Problem is, they wanted to appeal to women, maybe make a little progress with women who were put out that Hillary didn't make it. But they picked a woman who appealed mostly to adolescent males and 60-year-old republican males.

This from October 2008:
As Sarah Palin braces for her vice-presidential debate tonight with Joe Biden, a new TIME poll shows the Alaska Governor is surprisingly unpopular among likely women voters.

Overall, Palin is viewed favorably by 47% of likely voters and unfavorably by 40%. But her numbers are worse among women than men: 45% of all women surveyed have a negative opinion of Palin, compared to 42% who view her positively. Fifty-two percent of men have a favorable opinion, while 35% are in the unfavorable camp.
