Question: The Exile of Judah to Babylon + Destruction in 70AD -
April 14th, 2012, 12:17 PM
Recently someone here on TOL posted some verse references, starting with a passage in Jeremiah that uses the word "visit" in it.
Then also Jesus said what he said in the gospel of Luke.
And then there was the destruction in 70AD.
So my impression was that this person was saying Jeremiah was speaking of this destruction. But I was thinking, in looking into it "just a bit", that since Jeremiah lived in Judah before the exile to Babylon, that in all likelihood this is what he was speaking about.
I'd like to look into this more to see if I am correct.
Luke 19:44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:13 (KJV) To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
