When these MAD guys can't compete with the authority of the Lord Jesus, Paul, scholarship, or the inerrant word of God, they ad hominem
Jesus Christ showed His disciples how to follow God as a dear child.
Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the nations how to follow God as dear children.
Following God as a dear child will teach you all the theology you need.
These MAD guys are the first to resort to using red herrings.
Jesus Christ showed His disciples how to follow God as a dear child.
Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the nations how to follow God as dear children.
Following God as a dear child will teach you all the theology you need.
Chrysostom,
Oh, that's rich. We might call our red herring and hominy 'Strawman'.
Jesus Christ showed His disciples how to follow God as a dear child.
Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the nations how to follow God as dear children.
Following God as a dear child will teach you all the theology you need.
Genuineoriginal,
I haven't got the stomach for that.
Jesus Christ showed His disciples how to follow God as a dear child.
Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the nations how to follow God as dear children.
Following God as a dear child will teach you all the theology you need.
Red Herring Sample
In Acts, Paul told the Ephesian elders (men with which he had spent 3 years as he delivered to them all of the counsels of God) "to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said it is more blessed to give than to receive".
The fact is, though the Gospels record how the Lord Jesus used words to communicate it is more blessed to give than to receive in many ways, you can't find a quote in the Gospels of Jesus saying, "It is more blessed to give than to receive".
For people whose only interest in the Bible is to demonstrate that they are proud of knowing NOTHING, this is a red herring by which they can avoid acknowledging the words of the Lord Jesus and the doctrine which is according to godliness.
For those who adhere to the words of the Lord, the Lord's words found in Acts are a template for the doctrine which is according to godliness by which allusion may be made to all the many "herrings" in the Gospels at once.
Jesus Christ showed His disciples how to follow God as a dear child.
Jesus Christ sent His disciples to teach the nations how to follow God as dear children.
Following God as a dear child will teach you all the theology you need.
