But I don't wear them to church anymore because the pastor invariably loses track of the message he intended to deliver. That upsets his wife and she is one of my dearest friends. These things get so confusing.
Yeah, I imagine they gotta keep you out of the front pew.....

Oh, Hi Tarditio. I'm having a nice conversation with this lovely lady. Thanks for starting this thread for us. We may otherwise have never met.

With every impure thought we entertain, with every inappropriate word that we utter, with every illicit sexual advance we make, we add another lash to our Savior's broken body.
Sweet Merciful Jesus, scourged for our offenses, have mercy on us!

Sounds like you need to meet a nice young lady and start thinking about getting married, Trad.
Nori is right. I think what you are dealing with is the direct result of a culture which extends adolescence into adulthood and wonders why it is sexually dysfunctional.
Eucharist [thanksgiving] is the state of the perfect man. Eucharist is the life of paradise. Eucharist is the only full and real response of man to God's creation, redemption, and gift of heaven. - Alexander Schemann

I cleaned out my wardrobe last month. Gave some old stuff to the local Goodwill. Now I haven't got a decent thing to wear to the Kentucky Derby. Choices, choices.
Only initially, for a real man. If a man truly loves his wife he will delight in her body, always.
Because they don't see what's really going on. Hookers are only used for one thing, and those who come to see them never come to see them without that in mind. And most will accept any hooker, they don't care about sticking to one. And even those who do will eventually move on, even more quickly if the one they preferred was unavailable.
And as for porn stars they are less likely to be preferred over all the rest. Some may be preferred over others, but not at the expense of every other porn star. And in the end most really don't care which porn star they're watching; they don't even care if it's an amateur who made their own video, etc.
And those men move from woman to woman, never settling on one for very long. They aren't men, they're boys.
Agreed.
My point was that Trad seems to think that all the women in his area should comply with his drawn "line".
While we are not of the world, we still live in it.
And for Trad to insists that others should comply to his own utopian view (where there is no temptation) of how the world should be is not practical, and not based on reality at all.
There are women who dress appropriately, and there are women who don't. Wishing away this problem is not what is going to help him.
Scripture tells us that it is us who must flee from and resist temptation and sin, not the other way around.
Trad should realize that it is himself that should put on the whole armor of God. Not try to dictate the actions of the world according to his own drawn "line" so he doesn't have to bother putting on any armor.
It is his personal struggle, and he is the one that needs to take initiative instead of expecting the rest of the world to solve his problem for him.
We live in a world of temptation and sin. That's a fact we have to face head on. Wishing, or even demanding, that it would go away is not practical.
The means to overcome are available to us all, and each one of us should take the initiative to apply those means.

Perhaps you would like for all of us to wear burkas and faint from heat exhaustion?
Yes, if women wore burkas, that might help keep Traditio's mind in check. Really, probably not, but thank you for your understanding and compliance.
However, as far as heat exhaustion, please avoid it, as the idea of sweaty women might get Trad all fidgety.

I'd say it was time for me to take you on a shopping spree. You can model the clothes for me at the store and I will help you decide what we should buy. I think you might need a new bikini or two, as well.

Give it a rest, Tarditio. That bill was paid 2000 years ago.
He cant, some Catholics teach that Christ is in perpetual suffering.
1. I never asserted this.
2. This is not Catholic teaching.

Suggests it wasn't finished after all like He said but it keeps them coming back to the church for absolution of sin via the priest.
The absolution that priests grant draws its power from the One Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

I suppose it could be a cultural thing. Do you think the men in the middle east get impure thoughts from seeing a woman dressed like a conservative American girl?
Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, if it turns out they are right and get mad at you, they are a mile away and barefoot.
