Yep, kinda looks like Roman Catholic.

You just Godwin'd the thread, so you automatically lose any credibility and the thread.

The history written in the 40's and 50's was every bit as revisionist, albeit in a different direction, than what is produced today. Really, much of todays revisionist history is at it's core an overreaction against the over-simplified, white-washed history of that period.

Americas history is really complicated with good and bad periods, both in terms of material success and morals.

Catholics and Lutherans turned a blind eye to Nazism until it was to late, then they made token attempts to save Jews and others only to save face.
Anything that requires one risk their life goes well beyond a "token attempt" to "save face". Additionally, what they turned a blind eye towards was the detention and "deportation" of Jews. It wasn't as if pictures from the concentration camps were on the front pages of the papers in Berlin or that there was one right outside the city limits of Dresden. People in every time and place are quite adept at ignoring, and even doubting the existence, of anything that would complicate their lives in an undesirable manner.

the more i read about the beginnings of this country's history

the more i appreciate what they did, what they SACRIFICED

Jefferson sacrificed a LOT for his country... never charged the public for dinners @ the white house...(came out his own pocked) etc...

his estate went to disrepair while he was gone..
he was in debt when he died... for all his wonderful efforts to stay solvent...

and one main reason he was in debt was because he couldn't say No when people came to his place for dinner or whatever... he was literally eaten out of house / home...

and G Washington sacrificed an awful lot...

many of those who signed the D of Indep lived literally w/ a death sentence hanging over their heads since what thye did wascalled Treason by the King G III

If every American would read or re-read what these great men did for htis country

NO ONE would vote for BHO (except some out there extremists... but we will always have them....)
