The above verses speak of those with the Pentecostal anointing able to prophesies, cast out demons, and witness some miracles. These are blessings that come from receiving the Holy Spirit and are a step in the right direction.

It is the beginning of Him in us who is a light in the midst of a dark plac, but is still a long ways from us in Him in whom there is no guile or any darkness. The fullness of Christ formed in us is “us in Him” that is a result of the blessing of Tabernacles when foolish virgins become wise virgins through the additional anointing oil available at the time of the fruit harvest that is what Tabernacles represents.

These Christians can do much more than prophesy and/or cast out demons, they have the mind of Christ and those with the mind of Christ can do the works of God because it is God who is working through them same as He did through Jesus and the apostles.

Blessings

Doug

Sounds like Catholics to me.

The answer is stated further down--

Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Mat 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Mat 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
Mat 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Those are good scriptures. I wish I had read this before I ended the phone conversation that I just did.

All works are iniquity when outside the faith. The passage is about imputed righteous to those that endured to the end.

There is not the inkling of scripture to suggest it is possible for an evil tree to bear good fruit, or for satan to cast out satan, or that the Holy Ghost can be bound and His goods stolen. Consider the case of the 7 sons of Sceva.

Therefore those who think that this scripture means that anyone casting out devils or doing good works in Jesu's name is a false prophet is barking up the wrong tree.

It is people who suppose that simply belonging to the crowd doing these works is enough to be saved who are being warned. I kind of think He was looking at Judas when He said this.

Casting out demons is not sufficient albeit it is not a bad thing. What you need to be able to do is to fill someone with the light of truth that keeps the demon from returning.

Those are the ones whom Jesus knows and will not turn away unlike those who were just prophesying and casting out demons because they have not finished the race they were supposed to run.

Blessings

Doug

They did good works. They finished the race. Try again.

The high calling of Christ the seed in us is Jesus Christ formed in us. And that is a whole lot more than just doing a few works even when they are miracles of casting out demons that Jesus made perfectly clear was not good enough.

"They" is not what Jesus said but "he that doeth the will of My Father" the point is when God does good works "many" join themselves on to it and for many different reasons and think that the works of deliverance and good preaching of others will cover them. Salvation is personal.

ISAIAH 48 [17] Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I AM THE LORD THY GOD WHICH TEACHETH THEE TO PROFIT, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.[18] O THAT THOU HADST HEARKENED TO MY COMMANDMENTS! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

JER.16 [19] O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, THE GENTILES shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is NO PROFIT.

Jer.16 explains quite a bit about the fate of most gentiles. Could it be that Matt.7 and Jer.16 are speaking of the same people?

REV. 22 [14] Blessed are THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have right to the tree of life, and MAY ENTER IN THROUGH THE GATES INTO THE CITY.

The city mentioned here is the kingdom. Do you think you can forsake Gods law and keep not His commandments, and still be crowned and enter into the (city) kingdom.

REV. 3 [10] Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. [11] Behold, I come quickly: HOLD THAT FAST WHICH THOU HAST, THAT NO MAN TAKE THY CROWN. [12] Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of THE CITY OF MY GOD, WHICH IS NEW JERUSALEM, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

PROVERBS 4 [1] Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. [2] For I give you good doctrine, FORSAKE YE NOT MY LAW. [3] For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. [4] He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, AND LIVE. [5] Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. [6] Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. [7] Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. [8] Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. [9] She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: A CROWN OF GLORY shall she deliver to thee.

the new verifies the old

Proverbs4 and 2Tim.2

Both scriptures – grace
Both scriptures – crowned
Both scriptures – understanding
Both scriptures – Keep my commandments and strive lawfully

2 TIM. 2 [1] Thou therefore, my son, BE STRONG IN THE GRACE THAT IS IN CHRIST JESUS. [2] And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. [3] Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. [4] No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. [5] And if a man also strive for masteries, YET IS HE NOT CROWNED, EXCEPT HE STRIVE LAWFULLY.

The scriptures speak for themselves

PSALM 89 [27] Also I will make him MY FIRSTBORN, higher than the kings of the earth. [28] My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. [29] His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. [30] IF HIS CHILDREN FORSAKE MY LAW, and walk not in my judgments; [31] If they break my statutes, AND KEEP NOT MY COMMANDMENTS; [32] Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. [33] Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. [34] My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. [35] Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. [36] His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. [37] It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah. [38] But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed. [39] Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: THOU HAST PROFANED HIS CROWN BY CASTING IT TO THE GROUND.

Good post!

Pentecost is the anointing of the Holy Spirit on mankind. Therefore it is a necessary anointing and one can never have the fullness of Christ the tree of life formed in them without first getting their start with the Christ the seed in them that comes from the anointing of Pentecost.

Therefore, there is more to it than just casting out demons, because any demon cast out by law must try to return. (Ro.7:23) If, that by itself was not already enough to make things difficult, when we read the parable by Jesus of when the unclean spirit of man goes out of a man (the heart of man) it goes no further than the flesh that is made from the dust of the earth (dry places) where it finds the unclean soul of man. (Luke 11:24-26)

Then the two of them unite as one flesh and return to the heart leaving the person who was once cleansed of the unclean spirit, worse off than how they were before they ever received the Pentecostal anointing. (Because they do not realize they have been duped by Satan even though they are still technically "Christians" and able to cast out demons etc, kinda like a modern day Judas who walked with Christ but in the end betrayed him.)

Blessings

Doug
