lifeisgood,
There is a gift better than the gift of speaking in tongues.
Prophecy and speaking in tongues are for different purposes.

Deuteronomy 10:12 (KJV) And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 10:13 (KJV) To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
Slogan/motto:
Ecclesiastes 1:9 ---
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Totally, completely, no question about it, in agreement with you on this one. I, personally, do not have the gift of prophecy.

I digress.

Some have been deeper in sin than others, but all have a sin problem that brings about the situation where we have a need for reconciliation with God. And all sin is wrong. It is not that if you have only done "small sin" that you are really not that bad. This is why people say all sin is worthy of death, because sin brings about separation between us as humans and God. And anyone who has transgressed in any one way, has transgressed.

again, you mean EFFECT, not AFFECT
but anyhow, what u say here is true
but surely u agree that murdering someone has greater consequences... than telling your neighbor ... say: u like her dress when u hate it...
1.Have an effect on; make a difference to: "the dampness began to affect my health".
2.Pretend to have or feel (something): "as usual I affected a supreme unconcern".
Noun:
Emotion or desire, esp. as influencing behavior or action.
Synonyms:
verb. touch - influence - pretend
noun. emotion - affection
Actually, you may be right (if I am using the word as a noun?). Here is effect.
but surely u agree that murdering someone has greater consequences... than telling your neighbor ... say: u like her dress when u hate it...
The ultimate consequence for both of these is eternal separation from God. That is first and foremost.

But only if we follow God's prescribed order of victory (Post #522).
If the locus of will is the gut impulse, and i submit that it is for scripture says we are judged by careless words and spontaneous actions which may be said to stem from the unmediated gut impulse, if the locus of will is the gut impulse, not only do we say yes to sin every time we have such an impulse, but our very attempts to say no to such a thing is a species of self righteousness, hypocrisy and striving in the flesh.
the sermon on the mount makes it clear that the spontaneous impulse is not temptation, it is in fact sin in its most raw state. For if we look with lust, if we are [unrighteously] angry we have already sinned the moment we had the impulse.
it is too late.
So I say yes to sin every day, and saying no to sin is only to be found in repentance when and only when that is led by the Holy Spirit such that when i truly repent of a sin i am healed of it and no longer sin in that way. Forcing myself not to act on my evil impulse is not saying no, it is only pretending to do so
Bad news? But the Lord the Spirit is with me every day and is on one on one counselling leading me to repent where otherwise these things were totally immovable.
Putting Romans 7 together with the bible on the inner nature of sin can wonderfully concentrate the mind. If you don't despair first
