Sorry to hear that, SoJ. I know there's nothing scriptural I can tell you that you don't already know, but I will remember your needs in my prayers today.
Thank you, anna.

On a purely practical note, does light help? Turning on every light in the house to make it as bright as possible is helpful to some.
It actually does. But, what really matters is that despite the way I feel, the light of the knowledge of the glory of God has already shined in my heart. 2 Corinthians 4:6-7
Eucharist [thanksgiving] is the state of the perfect man. Eucharist is the life of paradise. Eucharist is the only full and real response of man to God's creation, redemption, and gift of heaven. - Alexander Schemann

And hold onto that.
I have family members who have seasonal affective disorder, and bright lights make a world of difference. Add to that a group effort with the kids in making an indoor fort, playing hide and go seek, making cookies together or settling in with a bunch of pillows to have a family movie afternoon, etc. These may sound simplistic, but I know for the family I'm thinking about, they seem to be an effective help.

They don't sound simplistic at all. Thank you for the good advice.

Be glad my friend! Be glad that you have a heart that can storm! It means you care. The storms go up down and around but when they pass there is clarity.
I went on my walk today and passed within a couple of feet of a mourning dove sitting on a post who didn't budge an inch...she looked at me, I looked at her, and she made me smile because she was just so darn cute...two ducks flew over me, and I carefully stepped around two snakes - both of them dead, one of them a rattlesnake.
