The Best of Political Attack Ads -
April 5th, 2012, 10:11 AM
There have been some great ones lately and there are certainly many, many more to come in the next 7 months.
Which are the best, funniest, most dishonest etc that you have ever seen?
They were running one in my neck of the woods that had Santorum taking "one for the team". Here is the quote from the debate but I am yet to find the actual ad. I thought it was quite effective because it directly quoted Santorum.
God is not discoverable or demonstrable by purely scientific means, unfortunately for the scientifically minded. But that really proves nothing. It simply means that the wrong instruments are being used for the job. ~John Bertram Phillips
The most dishonest was Romney "quoting" Obama, quoting a McCain aide: "If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose."
Twisted. The most dishonest campaign ad ever.
Someone should have not only sued him, but beaten the crap out of him and left him in a ditch 'til the 2016 elections.
"There was so much handwriting on the wall that even the wall fell down"
"In the long run of history, the censor and the inquisitor have always lost. The only sure weapon against bad ideas is better ideas. The source of better ideas is wisdom. The surest path to wisdom is a liberal education." – Alfred Whitney, Essays on Education
Don't you know
That it ain't a crime
If all the squares
And the junkmen
Think you're out of line
Yes! Thank you! I just couldn't find it on Youtube....

I think Obama's team is going to vilify Willard's use of the word "marvelous" when Romeny described the Paul Ryan budget as such. I have a feeling this will translate into some sort of attack ad in the coming months.

Getting ready for things to come. Romney will get the Palin treatment:
The Campaign Ads That Will Defeat Obama
By Edward Olshaker Despite the life-and-death issues at stake, the Obama campaign has begun a re-election effort based largely on Rule 5 of Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. It's hard to counterattack ridicule..." The reason is simple: personal attacks and mockery worked so well in reducing Sarah Palin to a negative caricature that any formidable opponent now automatically receives the Palin treatment from the Obama camp and its obedient media.
Ideally the two campaigns would agree to avoid such attacks, yet it's already too late. The Obama team is eagerly collecting Romney's alleged gaffes, and has begun running a "greatest hits" video that includes Romney's out-of-context half-sentence, "I'm not concerned about the very poor..." They also plan to highlight the most damaging moments of the GOP debates.
The ridicule began before Romney clinched the nomination, and included derision of Romney's narrow Michigan victory (even though, 4 years ago this week, Obama was not mocked for losing the Pennsylvania primary by 10 points), and taunting him with a juvenile stunt. The president even made fun of Romney using the word "marvelous."

So we conclude the RNC is run by Saul Alinsky? Both major parties freely use ridicule. They are addicted to it for reasons Alinsky alludes to. Negative ads work, and ridicule is especially difficult to combat.
This go round, the republicans even freely used it against each other. It is disgusting. But we, the voters reward them for doing it. If you want to make a difference don't vote for anyone using it.
Otherwise, it goes on.

Palin is an easy target, because she isn't very smart. Romney isn't stupid, whatever else he is. Nor is Obama. So it won't work so well with them.

A lot of these ads are pure bunk. Each and every one needs to be fact-checked.
