My son has rarely had more prayer, Bible, etc. in the last year and this week. A psychotic mind (which will be induced in any normal person within days if sleep deprived, robbed of nutrients, etc.) will not always be cured by prayer, God, deliverance, Bible reading, etc. If it is due to street drugs, brain tumor, demons, hormones, trauma, etc., then discernment and multi-approach is needed.

There is a danger to over or under spiritualize these things. There is a spirit realm (good and evil) and our beings are spirit/soul/body with dysfunction secondary to the Fall, sin, accidents, chemicals, etc. possible related. Man and science does not have all the answers vs God, but sometimes it does on certain things.

Too many think they are experts when they really don't have a clue.

You're right. I once thought I knew but experience has taught me otherwise.

Does anyone have any experience with St. John's Wort or the controversial EmPowerPlus?

The Jesus Factor (cf. drug addiction/teen challenge) is the key, in addition to practical principles.
I don't remember if I mentioned this to you before but Noni juice has been known to treat depression along with a myriad of other things. My aunt swears by it.

Vitamin D is evidence based if there is a deficiency. Homeopathy is not evidence based (allopathy is just conventional Western medicine that is a mix of good and bad, too much symptom vs cause focus, treatment vs preventative).
