sheesh, it is all over the web. Now in fairness many people do say "about 2,000 years ago". But if you google the phrase "Christ died for your sins 2,000 years ago?". You will find many preachers stating things like "over 2,000 years ago Christ died for your sins". Try it. My point stands. If a teacher (preacher) can't be accurate in such a simple matter why should I listen to his or her opinion on God's Word?

Ok so my responses were a tad harsh. Apologies.
But in most of the ones that I find, they were speaking in generalities. I think you are reading waaay too much into it. But hey, I do that with papists all the time

I agree, which is why I usually try to say "over 1900 years" and "almost 2000 years" when talking about the time since the death of Jesus.

Whenever you hear "Jesus was crucified 2000 years ago." Substitute it with "Almost 2000 years ago."
Sorta like when someone uses the word "ain't". In your own head you can substitute it with "is not", or even "isn't" if you dare. That way, the whole world keeps on turning and you don't have to open your mouth and reveal your sense of false superiority.
"God foreknows nothing by contingency, but that he foresees, purposes, and does all things according to his immutable, eternal and infallible will. By this thunderbolt, "free will" is thrown prostrate and utterly dashed to pieces. Those therefore, who would assert "free will," must either deny this thunderbolt, or pretend not to see it, or push it from them." -Martin Luther
"The Church has surrendered her once lofty concept of God and has substituted for it one so low, so ignoble, as to be utterly unworthy of thinking, worshiping men. This she has not done deliberately, but little by little and without her knowledge; and her very unawareness only makes her situation all the more tragic." -A.W. Tozer
"He that has doctrinal knowledge and speculation only, without affection, never is engaged in the business of religion." -Jonathan Edwards

You're in error.
If Jesus was 33 when he died then the only way that could have been in AD33 is if He were born in 1 BC. There was no Year 0, on either side.
And most put the year of His birth at AD 4, I believe. Meaning he would have been 33 in AD 37, and would have died in the spring of AD 38.
And even if His 33rd birthday would have been in AD 33, He still would have died the next spring in AD 34.
Of course, they've been saying 2000 years for quite some time. I always assumed they were rounding up by the thousand. It does make things easier to do so. They'll probably still be saying 2000 years in 2055.

Most put his birth at 4 BCE making the death at 33 in the year 30 CE.

Do you believe Christ was born in 0 AD? He came over 2000 years ago.
Also eeset, did you consider that in the hebrew calendar, a year is less than 365 days, so sweetie? If the 'pious' you complain about are using that time frame for years, then yes, Christ died a little over 2000 years ago.
