Acts 14:19-20 These people were not stupid. - June 14th, 2012, 08:52 PM

Paul was killed .... Acts 14:19 .. Then he was raised Acts 14:20. The people who dragged him out of the city were not stupid. They knew the difference between unconscious and dead. They surely checked his heartbeat multiple times and found none. And there is no mention in Acts 14:21 about any bruises. Nobody in Derbe says "what happened to your face and body". Paul was not only raised up from the dead but his body was completely restored or surely there would be mention of some lingering effects.

Paul was "supposed" to have died. It does not say he actually died. I'm sure the Acts writer would have made it very clear if Paul had actually risen from the dead.

Oh but he did. Paul was left for dead by people who knew the difference between someone unconscious and a dead person. When they left he arose. Check out the Scripture. It is very plain and straight forward. Paul was dead and resurrected.

Right... They were very advanced, and all of them were doctors.

You're a moron.

Who was it that preached in the Areopagus in chapter 17?

The purpose of these posts, so it seems, is to cause a stir. They are not even intelligent questions. If anything, you are reading too much into the text.

We don't need the church. All we need is common sense. Acts 17 says that Paul preached in the Areopagus. We need the church to tell us that he did not die in chapter 14? Come on!

You Catholics think that we are totally inept.

But that does not say they will be able to fake being dead.

I agree

Also, I do believe that during the time from when he died from the stoning to coming back to life when they prayed and God raised him back alive, was when he had his experience caught up in the 3rd heaven spoken of in 2nd Corinthians. When a person dies the spirit goes back to God in history teaches us that John too who was caught into the 3rd heaven, was also immersed into boiling oil.

There is no way during that date and time someone could have withstood third-degree burns from head to toe and survived either the injuries or the shock from the pain, and my personal belief is that John too was also raised from the dead.

From my experience when declared dead after a car accident and then caught up in the 3rd heaven witnessing exactly what John wrote about on the resurrection of the dead before being returned, the same as Paul, I could not tell whether or not my physical body was there or not, because I felt no different from how I would at any other time. However at the same time I was wherever I was at spiritually, medical personal were looking at my dead body

Yes, there are many events in the Bible where people were raised from the dead or miraculously escaped harm such as Abednego and friends in the fiery furnace. I have learned though that many people scoff at such things. How can a person not accept the miraculous and claim to be either a Christian or Jew?
