Good point. I have been married twice and have had several girl friends. I now find that being single suits me better, and go out of my way to stay so. Being selfish is not the same as having a strong sence of self.

Thank you for sharing. I have had a rough run with some of my most recent ladies I have dated (I certainly have some fault for the fall-outs). So I have also made the effort to be single because I do not want to hurt anyone else. I want to take the time to figure out who I am and what I want instead of selfishly plunging into relationship after relationship.

There is no universal pejorative stating that you must be connected to another. It took me along time to realise this. If you are happy being single, as am I, then there is no reason why that cannot suit you best.
Relationships are always worst at their end and I make no excuses for taking equal blame for their demise. I no longer want the pain, nor do I wish to afflict it in on anyone else.
So I have found being single suitable, I just wish I had realised this early in my life as much hurt could have been avoided.
Everyone's mad except me and thee, and I'm not so sure about thee.

But I must admit my life style does no suit everyone. But many of these (so called) happy relationships I have encountered are not what they appear to be when looked at closely.
They tolerate each other because they have no wish to be alone,
Good for them, but I enjoy being alone.

Quoting scripture at an atheist is pretty foolish.
I'm not quoting it for a foolish purpose, I quoted it to point out that it was not simply my opinion that you are a fool for being godless.
Quote:
First, in your neg rep, you called me Godless, which I accept. You meant it has an insult but I take it has a compliment, thank you. But I agree you have just cause for calling me Godless.
But then you add the ad hominem "fool"
Now I'm either a fool for being Godless which, as I say, would be no more than your opinion. No just cause there.
Not my opinion, as I showed with the quote.
Quote:
Or, I'm a fool for agreeing with Carrie Underwood's stance - again, no more than your own opinion, thus no just cause.
If it is merely my opinion then you'll be able to show that is is simply my opinion.
Quote:
Therefore you fail to follow the guide lines of your own book and that makes you an hypocrite, not mention that the use of ad hominem is a logical fallacy.
So now we know you're more stupid than I thought.

God created heterosexuals and homosexuals. You are criticizing his creation, you should take the matter up with him.

It's not selfish to keep it to yourself if no one wants it.

I must say, I tried marriage once and it was terrible. It wasn't because of the woman or anything like that. It was just so boring to me and not much fun at all once the honey moon phase was over. The same thing day after day just grated on my nerves. I'm actually a hard guy to get along with once I get comfortable around someone and my temper often gets the best of me. It got to the point that I started to hate her for no other reason than she was always there in my face. That's just the brutal truth and eventually we grew apart.
I love being single and would rather be by myself as well. I don't know why but that's how I feel and it's probably for the best. Everyone is different and has different personality quirks. I guess in the end I understand why homosexuals want the right to marry but at the same time I have no love for the institution and kind of think they're crazy for wanting to marry .

Right, but has I have shown, without just cause and this makes you a hypocrite. btw, I have never stated "there is no God", only that I do not "believe" there is. Big difference. So you quote incorrectly from the get go.

But you have shown yourself unable to respect the book from which you quote. It's your book not mine. It means nothing to me. Quote away if you must but you might as well put on a grass skirt and throw around monkey bones. Actually, forget the grass skirt, not very becoming on the portly gentleman

Already done but, since you can't follow your own book, doubtful you have the brainpower to see reason.
Your hypocrisy has been exposed, you're just not man enough to admit it

Oh I agree fully. You sound like a man after my own heart, I just wish I had realised earlier that being single isn't that bad, rather good actually
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a little company sometimes, just not too much and not too close.
We go through life doing the things we think we are supposed to do and call it free will. Ah!

It is this kind of arrogance that makes these kind of discussions extremely difficult. I am not here to try to make anyone believe anything. I don't care what your ideas are because ideas in and within themselves are harmless. However, when you take those ideas and act on them to try to isolate and oppress others because you think they are wrong, your actions are now harmful to those individuals. That, I have a problem with. If you hate gays, hell, hate gays all day long. I hate rattlesnakes, but it doesn't mean I take a shotgun and go hunt rattlesnakes. So long as rattlesnakes do their thing and leave me alone, I don't care! I don't understand why others can't do the same.
Keep it in your bedroom and we wont be talking about it.
If you shove it in our face though, then you can expect a reaction.
Easy.

Amen Sister! All this National "Gay Pride" stuff is about shoving it in our face. They say "Live and let live" but they won't let us live without getting in our face.

I feel they have every right to do it just as much as any other group would. (I am assuming are you are talking about demonstrating, parades, or acceptable levels of PDA for individuals)

Oh sure, a rainbow colored banner makes you feel icky but the violence, social oppression, and hateful protests that occur every day by the straight community (directed towards the homosexual community) is acceptable?
