I come to discuss controversial issues and thoroughly enjoy the interaction with many of the Christians on the sight (yourself included).

I always enjoy your input. It's important for me to be able to understand where you're coming from, even if we don't agree. And I admire your courage.

Initially, TOL taught me that the people I considered "the most conservative on the planet" (i.e., several of my relatives) are NOWHERE NEAR the most conservative, even in this country.

TOL has given me an outlet to exercising my writing ability constantly, especially when in a slump on my creative works-in-progress.

The main shift which has occurred for me through my interactions on TOL is that I have come to a greater appreciation my real-world relationships, which do NOT shatter due to disagreements.

I could see that.

Do you view what you say here as an exercise, (even if it's just freewriting) in that you're crafting a response with that in the back of your mind?

Just curious, because to me TOL is conversation more than exposition, while for others, it's a very structured argument they're presenting.

Not that that's a negative at all, just different than a more free-flowing exchange of ideas.

I've probably changed a lot. I just can't remember due to early onset senility.

I have always been pro-life and TOL has strengthened by view on this one. My view of politics has become far more cynical. I know that God has really used some people to help restore me in His peace and joy, by helping me to see the Lord in the depths of my depression (Anna, you were one of these people as was AB, elo, zippy, TM, and many others). In particular, I have come to appreciate the wonderful simplicity of God's way (thanks to TH, elo, steko, and several others).

I should give credit where credit is due. I have found the fellow Catholics on this forum to be an excellent safegaurd against heresy; to Cruciform and Evoken I owe a very special debt of gratitude; in particular, what comes to mind is Cruciform's defense of the resurrection of the body.

If you've been helped in any way by my comments here, we can both be grateful to God the Holy Spirit, who alone is able to move the hearts and minds of men (if this weren't the case, I certainly would not be a Catholic today). In any event, it's good to know that I've at least been able to affect a fellow Catholic here on TOL!...
