In my opinion your question is not only an excellent subject for discussion but one that the answer needs to be known.

I have in bold the answer that simply stated says for the mind to be purified, the heart must be first made pure. The heart is where the spirit resides, and if Christ (Holy Spirit) is the spirit in your heart then it is the Christ life being pumped by the heart throughout your body including to the brain, where the mind works through controlling the actions of the body.
Where the catch comes in is Christ is a spirit of truth, Therefore, if what someone thinks about the foundational doctrines of Christ is not the truth,(He. 6:1-2) what they have in their heart is not Christ, but is an impostor successfully fooling the person into thinking that Christ is the one who is in their heart.
If and when Christ does rule over a heart, that particular person will not sin, and will live a life in harmony with God Who will be happy to perform signs and wonders through the person
People keep on saying how doctrines don't matter but your faith is what you believe and if you do not believe in the truth, your faith is dead (to quote James)

How many times here have you been able to influence somebody else into changing their mind, or vice versa?
I asked a friend about commenting here and their response was, “why,” because all forum discussions are is people patting each other on the back, or fighting with those who have different views. When it comes to participating in forums everybody has the same send button, but how many people have been sent by God to teach others, versus all who just think they have been blessed to teach others? IMO just about everyone falls into one camp or the other.
Every once in a while that you might find somebody who participates on a forum who also speaks from a pulpit on Sundays, but in my opinion most who speak from their keyboards do not have access to the pulpit, and this is their way for getting their opinion across.
However, and as I said in my opening remark, how many times does someone's opinion actually make a difference?
Eventually it gets to the point that if it does not matter why bother posting?

Jesus followed the food laws , came to fullfill the law and was a Nazarite so he followed and supported laws but the law of love fullfilled them all. Jesus taught that to keep a commandment was to fulfill the purpose for which it was given. For instance, Jesus taught that the Sabbath was instituted for the sake of people (Mk 2:27), so picking food to eat to heal on the Sabbath was good AND it was allowed. (Mk 2:23-3:5).
Jesus' teachings on the Law was all about on inward obedience, attitude, loyalty or obedience of the heart, rather than outward, legalistic obedience (Mt 5:21-28). Matthew 15:17-20 contains the same teaching that in Mark is explicitly interpreted as saying that all foods are clean (Mk 7:14-23).
(escept the passages regarding the vision of FOOD on the roof, referred to "people" The food laws still apply. Jesus quotes Hosea 6:6: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice" (Mt 9:13, 12:7)...so all about application but Jesus was a law abider. His example shows us food laws are good, following the sabbath is law but also to do good, fullfills his purpose. (do good on the Sabbath)

This is why Christ said to take no thought, our in others words don't listen to your lower nature (oldman) when it condemns you or speaks of past failures, this comes from the law covenant that rules the left side of the brain, when one enters the new covenant of the spirit the right brain is put on a path of regeneration and overides the old natural thoughts of the beast within, that produce anger, lust, hate, and fear etc.. if we listen, no man taught Jesus in the symbolic story he represented, and we need no man or book to teach us once the spirit starts to leaven the kingdom.
Fear has its place in the beginning of ones journey but when inlightenment comes the fear factor should start to become a distant memory, perfect love cast out all fear, the tribulations should start to become less and less from the lower mind (old covenant) trying to enter the forbidden zone through works of righteousness Romans 10:3, or in symbolic terms used in the scripture no flesh and blood thoughts can enter the holy of holies, or inherit the kingdom, only the devine nature can enter that part of the temple of God which we are, we become the word made flesh without hands if God dwells in us which it does, dormant or awake its there, the spirit leavened body becomes a vessel fit for the new wine.

Purification of the mind is a transformation of thought, speech and behavior. In order to do this, the mind must be brought into conformity with the mind of God. The question is how do we develop a reading of scripture that will create within us such a transformation? How do we regard scripture as the surface form of absolute intellegence?
The agent patient relationship between scripture and the mind of man defines the nature of the intended influence that scripture is to have upon the mind of the reader. A divinely determined relationship exists between the minds of all men and the biblical text. How man responds to this text will be determined by the position in which man perceives himself within this relationship. As the patient in this relationship man is the one upon whom the text is intended to act. As the patient, man is never permitted to assume the position of control. He is always rendered subject to the will and authority of an agency that is outside of himself. The patient position is the only position in which man is authorized to occupy in his relationship to the Word of God. As agent, the Word of God assumes the role of control and authority acting upon the mind of the individual. The scripture must be allowed its agential place over human intelligence. Human intelligence must always give over to the intelligence of God. The way man sees reality must always give way to an inspired representation of reality. Scripture must always be allowed to overtake human will. What this means for man in this relationship is that man must always submit himself to the grammatical structure of the text so that his mind can be influenced by the text. When man surrenders himself to the role of patient he is then able to be transformed in his thought, speech and behavior. When we approach scripture, we must allow the text to create a symmetry between our minds and the mind of God. To be pure in mind means to be able the think the way God thinks and to reason the way God reasons. This is the role of scripture.
