But it is insanely simplistic to blame everything bad going on in the world on the Israelis and anyone who supports them.
no one did that, that I read.
He was asking a question...about IF it could be Israel.
You jumped to conclusions, in mho.
It was others who made the bold statement, 'yes' Israel would.
Why don't you go attack them now?

We should cut this off, Bybee.

Thanks Bybee. You are 100% correct and speak the truth my friend!!
... I've not noticed any "pro-jewish discrimination" by jewish people or anyone for that matter.
I assume you think they do, please explain your reasoning. Given the nature of the claim citations will likely be needed....
...All/most jews are loyal to Israel? And this loyalty extends to more than just words but to providing cash, soldiers and/or significant political activism? Citations will definitely be needed for that.
I'm not aware of any peer-reviewed research works on the subject, but this guy has a mouthful to say, and he's been in media for 30 years. Anyone interested should open the link and read the whole thing.
Quote:
...My sample is surely skewed by the fact that I’m Jewish and have always felt great comfort with other Jews. But in my experience, Jews have made up the majority of the important positions in the publications I worked for, a majority of the writers I’ve known at these place, and the majority of the owners who have paid me. Yes my own sample may be skewed, but I think it shows that Jews make up a significant proportion of power positions in media, half, if not more....
...I should point out that I have worked with many gentile editors and writers, and I have never been aware of any employment discrimination against them (though I may not be the best source). In fact, at Spy, the three top editors were all non-Jews and when I used the epithet WASP it was removed from my copy. But that is the exception. Generally it’s been Jews Jews Jews. When I hear NPR do a piece with its top political team and both are Jews... when a Jewish friend calls me and gossips about lunches with two top news execs at major publications who are both Jewish and who I’ve known for 20 years... when a Jewish editor friend tells me that Si Newhouse would be disturbed if Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter-- who has done such courageous work against the Iraq war-- did anything to expose the Israel lobby... and when I say that my income has been derived overwhelmingly from Jewish-owned publications for years—this is simply the ordinary culture of the magazine business as I know it....
...Then there’s Israel. Support for Israel is an element of Jewish religious practice and more important, part of the Jewish cultural experience. Even if you're a secular Jewish professional who prides himself on his objectivity, there is a ton of cultural pressure on you to support Israel or at least not to betray Israel. We are talking about a religion, after all, and the pressures faced by Jews who are critical of Israel are not that different from what Muslim women who want greater freedom undergo psychically or by evangelical Christians who want to support gay rights. It is worth noting that great Jewish heretics on the Israel question suffer anger or even ostracism inside their own families....

Ok, if that is what you want.
I know a God who is not a respector of persons based on the flesh alone.
..and, it matters little to me, if you agree.

It is quite typical of uneducated, parochial-minded persons to leap to the negative.
It is not a matter of superiority. It is a matter of God's purpose in history.
The whole of history has yet to be unfolded. We "see through a glass darkly...". Only God possesses the big picture.
And God only requires that we live each day according to His precepts for us.
Since God is true, trustworthy and faithful to His word, I can only conclude that His promises to Israel still stand
And his promises to the gentiles also still stand.
All has not yet been fulfilled.
Those who think they know everything over and above what others know are the truly arrogant and guilty of superiority complexes!
There shall be much gnashing of teeth in time to come.

I want to take this one because this is such classic Bybee with all the rhetorical flourishes, and yet, she hasn't said anything of any significance. All bluster, no pop.

GM can speak for himself and whether he thinks Jews are superior or whether he thinks they are simply unique. All that about history, see through a glass darkly, the big picture...just blather.

Sounds really good- true, trustworthy, faithful...but, Bybee can only conclude that the riches of Christ Jesus aren't enough for the Judaics (Khazars, Sephardics...), they need to cluster together distinct from the rest of the body of Christ (when in fact the true unity is supposed to be in the body of Christ, Jew and gentile) on some dirt in the Middle East until they too are swallowed up by the grave.
The point is, no one is questioning the character of God. The dispute is over what it teaches about Jews, genitles, the church and Israel.

Again, really profound stuff, here, huh? It's all words, it's all show, rarely is there any meaningfull substance in Bybee's contributions. Get mad at me for pointing it out, but, it's just true.

Superiority v. God's purpose in history, they aren't even antithetical. Sounds nice, though, right?
Wow, now, you've got to admit, that's deep, huh?

That may be true. I'll have to think about it. Of course my small pea-brain may not be capable of thinking but, I'll give it a try.
No doubt, it is out of Christian love and compassion that you choose to point this out for all to see?

You do not have a pea brain Bybee. You are by far intellectually superior to Homer.
