Racism is a process of projecting our own fears and shortcomings onto others, so as to dismiss and/or condemn those feelings without actually having to face or take responsibility for them in ourselves.
We fear things that we don't understand. So when we see people that are different from us, we are naturally fearful of them, because we don't understand them. But instead of facing this fear within ourselves, we blame it on them. We want to imagine that it's their fault that they make us fearful. So we project negative character traits onto them, so as to justify our own otherwise unfounded fear of them.
At least, that's what I think is going on.
So, if i get off a freeway in detroit to look for a gas station, then i am projecting my own shortcomings to others because i am frightened when i realize that i am a very bad area of the city.
Knowing that i would not feel the same way if i had exited in a noticeably cleaner and more well kept part of the city.
You really think thats just projection? crime stats just have nothing to do with it right?

Does that contradict anything PureX said? How does it relate?
If you're in a bad part of town, that's a rational and understandable reason to be afraid.

The world is suffering from racial paranoia as a result of the more prevalent racism of the past.
That is why, for instance, being called 'antisemitic' is almost imminent when stating something not exactly heralding Jews.
Or another would be the fact that employers fear getting the 'race card' pulled on them if they do not hire diversely. The condemning aspect of racial paranoia here is that if there is a business full of minorities, nobody thinks to look twice.
A lot of people are insecure, not well accomplished, and have a chip on their shoulder. Denigrating an entire group or blaming them for your problems is easier than acknowledging your own short comings.

I agree.

I don't think this is nearly as much an issue as some people like to claim. For one thing, it's good that employers are thinking that they need to be diverse in their hiring practices, IF they live in a diverse community. There is no reason that an employer should not hire people generally representative of the community around them. And I have no idea who you think would be "looking" either closely or otherwise.
I think that if a problem exists regarding employment, it's employers practicing racism in their hiring, or the occasional employee using the claim of racism falsely, against an employer.

I assume you are trying to equate racism with a statistical likelihood of criminal behavior. And sadly, there is a correlation. But keep in mind that criminal behavior is not a direct product of race. It's a direct product of poverty, which is in turn very often the product of racism. Using criminality, then, as an excuse to be racists would be the height of hypocrisy, as it's the racism itself, in the first place, that creates the criminality.

Birds of a feather flock together, then man came along and thought process occurred and we have been making excuses ever since.

It's not. Not for the most part, that is. However it has happened, and one in instance in particular comes to mind with the Home Depot company. I'm not sure if anything came out of it, but they started hiring more 'diversely' which unwittingly comes out to some people not getting hired simply because they are white.
Notice I didn't say 'another race', but white. That is because white people cannot pull out the 'race card'.
Why is that?
Black people are no longer minorities, at least not in America, but yet society is seemingly unwilling to establish that visible truth.
Why is that?
Jews can snarl at Gentiles and mock the Lord, doing it openly on TV and everywhere else, yet if another race or Christian says even a word about Jews, it is 'evil, racist bigotry'.
Why is that?
The answer to all these things is RACIAL PARANOIA. The world is suffering from it horribly. So much so, in fact, that I wouldn't even be surprised if someone mistook this post as being hostile to other groups of people. Society can't even swallow facts, how in the world can it actually digest them and fix itself?

I think it all kind of stems from ethnocentrism. A person looks at not just the skin color but also the culture, mannerisms, slang and other elements and then judges them to their own. Of course some people are closed minded and believe their people and their way of life is the center of the universe. They judge others relative to their own being. Some people come away believing they are superior. That is what I see happening all around me, being from Kentucky.... I don't agree with it, a person is just a person to me but I hear so many people rant about the topics in the OP, such as why there aren't more white athletes that I'm pretty sure I've got this one figured out.

To some degree I think it's built into our DNA. We are social animals, meaning that we live in groups, and we naturally establish orders or levels of dominance and submission. We also maintain group cohesion by vigorously excluding members from rival groups. These are common traits among mammals that live in social groups and these behaviors seem to be endemic to humans as well. And as such, I think it would take a deliberate and persistent effort to overcome such inherent inclinations. That's certainly not impossible, as we humans routinely manage to overcome our animal inclinations. But we do need to become aware of them, and make a conscious choice to rise above them, to do so.

Yep, and perfect love casts out fear.
It would cast out racism, too....

Ok, I'm curious. Why aren't there more white running backs, wide receivers, and defensive backs in the NFL?

To the bolded, yes that was my point and thank you for admitting there is a correlation and it doesnt have anything to do with projecting anything.
As to the rest, knowing several people in small extremely poor towns, i disagree that crime comes with poverty.
