I'm white. I'm not black. I can't convert to being black. It doesn't matter how much I want to become black. I could listen to rap and date fat white women all day; for all that, I'll still remain white.- Traditio

Man... it is truly amazing what a complete moron you are. Seriously you are a complete fool.
Of course there is a comparison between Manning and Tebow!! One just replaced the other as starting QB of the Broncos. How can you NOT compare the two??
Granite, why are you such an idiot? Almost every time you post on TOL you embarrass yourself. If I were you, I wouldn't post anything online. Not on TOL nor anywhere else. That way you might be able to leave a bit of ambiguity surrounding your intelligence (or lack thereof). Maybe then people might not realize that you are a complete asshat.
Can you imagine if it were Tim Tebow who threw 3 first quarter interceptions??? The haters would be out in force.
Who are the haters? I will point out that in that offense (passing required) Tebow looked like that all the time. Hey, it is a big deal when the best has a bad day.
And I still think Tebow could be an awesome All-Pro caliber tight end.
I agree. He is a great football player. Just not great at passing.
Knight, would you feel better if I said you can't compare Elway to Manning? Because you can't. Elway's decision making for some time was suspect, and probably because his passing talent let him get away with it. And that is about it.

Knight, would you feel better if I said you can't compare Elway to Manning? Because you can't. Elway's decision making for some time was suspect, and probably because his passing talent let him get away with it. And that is about it.
Nick you just made a comparison between Elway and Manning!! You said it couldn't be done... and then you did it.
Truth is... you can compare any NFL quarterback to any other NFL quarterback. It's silly to state otherwise.
In fact... you can compare lots of things even if they are unlike one another. For instance you can compare granite (the TOL member) with a piece of actual granite you mind find in a pile of rocks.
Lets try shall we....
When you find a piece of granite in a pile rocks it often has a point, which is unlike the granite that posts on TOL.

RIP Steve Sabol.
I hate to break it to the peeps, but your chances of being killed or wounded in a terrorist incident are so close to zero that they might as well be zero. Worry far more about slipping in the tub.

Eric:
Seriously. What is your problem?
If you're unable to treat me like an adult maybe you should just ignore my posts, because you act like a immature foul-mouthed child whenever you address me lately. I have no idea what exactly I've done to annoy you but this last post of yours crosses a line. It's not behavior or language befitting the moderator of a website, or a mature adult, or a Christian.
(And by the way: IT'S. ONLY. FOOTBALL.)
With all due respect, as a person who contributes time and money here, I'd like you to do me a terrific favor and just please leave me alone. Plenty of TOLers can tell you that, while they may disagree with me, they enjoy discussion and debate with me, and that's exactly why I'm here. You run a good site. But you really need to grow up.
Theocrats are Social Darwinists.
Christianity has nothing applicable, appropriate, or worthwhile to offer the 21st century.

No. I'm not going to leave you alone. When you say dumb stuff I'm going to call you on it.

Toughen up ya big wuss.
Using this minor dust up as a springboard to consider my own responses around TOL in principle...I've been thinking about this topic since a spate of homo insults was aimed at me by a few angry children with impulse control issues and I'm coming to a different conclusion on how to handle insult in relation to the mods/rules.
Someone, I think it was bucksplasher, said that things bother us because they have a kernel of truth in them. I don't think that's true. Things bother us because we tend to respond to insults as though we'd offered them. That is, being human, we can't help but have a certain level of empathy and that, even when we aren't thinking about it, makes us identify with everyone else, including the offending party. That's where the upset or hurt or mild irritation, depending, comes from. It is our better natures that allow it. So if someone seems utterly unaffected it's likely they are deficient in that particular and more's the pity for them.
But it doesn't follow that we have to be ruled entirely by a misapplication of that human response. How do we get around it? Reflection. Take a moment to consider before responding. Give the comment more context than a mistaken, twisted empathy would.
If Hitler (I didn't win that award for nuthin) called me a hater or a homo I don't think I'd do more than laugh at him. That's because I already understand what he is and where his judgment proceeds from. And that's the thing we don't have with individuals of short acquaintance. But we can take a breath and figure that part out, consider the source and the insult. If the person has a point, use it. If they mostly don't and are speaking out of anger or contempt, feel free to take another breath and laugh at them.
To summarize: Consider. Mock if it's called for/change if it isn't. Laugh in any event. Repeat.
Maybe that's what all of us need to do for a while. So if Shellhead wants to think everyone who disagrees with her/him/it is effeminate...realize who that is and what their methodology is and how little thought is found in it. Point out the obsession and move along. It's Shellhead for Pete's sake.
Or you could do the even harder thing and gently correct and forgive them. I'm not there yet, but I'm trying. Maybe you are. If so, congrats to you. My guess is that most of us have some work to do on that point.
Nick you just made a comparison between Elway and Manning!! You said it couldn't be done... and then you did it.
That is a typo. Elway to Tebow. Saying "you can't compare them" is a figure of speech refering to how far apart they are. Elway can make every throw, Tebow...not so much.
After starting off 10-6 against the line I was slaughtered last week, with a 7-9 showing. Still ahead on wins and looking to rebound.
New segment--Quick Picks: missed the first game.
2. Rams at the Bears: Cutler and company rebound against SL and cover a hefty 7.5 favorite status late.
3.Bills at Browns: Cleveland upsets the slightly favored Bills in a fg contest.
4. Tampa at Dallas: time for the Cowboys to work out a few kinks, but I don't like the 7.5 points so I'll take the Bucs to keep it closer in a loss.
5. Lions at Titans: how's Jeff Fisher looking now? Detroit will make the 3.5 and then some.
6. Jaguars at Colts: I like the Colts and pity the Jags, but this should be a 3 point spread, so I'll ride the pity train against that spread and my Colts.
7. Jets at Dolphins: New York has one good game and everyone relaxes..Miami is my upset special, though being a 3.5 dog isn't an overwhelming vote of no confidence.
8. SF at Minnesota: the Niners are favored by 7.5 and I'd have taken nine.
9. KC at NO: now or never meets "How'd that happen?" in the "Nobody is goin' Nowhere" bowl, but give me the Saints and that long 8.5 against the Kansas City Pinatas.
10. Cin at Was: two good young qbs on rising teams Washington is favored by 3.5 but I think it's going to be worse for the Bengals.
11. Philly at Arizona: How good were the Cardinals last week? How lucky have the Eagles been every week? Which oddity fails first? Philly is a 4.5 road favorite. Too rich for me. I say the odds catch up with them and the Cardinals continue to impress.
12. Falcons at SD: Hate this game and the fg nod to the Chargers, but I'll take it...wouldn't cry if Atlanta upset the cart though.
13. Houston at Denver: the Broncos are home dogs, if by a measly 1.5 but I say if they can play as poorly as they did last week and still be in a position to win this is the week they remind Texas why they shouldn't have said what they did about Peyton during his job search. Give me Denver.
14. Pittsburgh at Oakland: the Steelers only have to cover 4.5 and against this still gelling Raider's team that shouldn't prove difficult.
15. NE at Baltimore: best game of the week, hopefully. The Ravens are a fg favorite at home, but I'm not sold on Flacco 2.1 and I'll take Brady 3.2 to remind them who the best team in the conference actually is.
16. Green Bay at Seattle: if I could count on the Seahawks to be consistent, given the holes in the Packer's defensive secondary I'd run against Green Bay and those 3.5 points. But I can't and I won't.
Tebow could really be used effectively like Aaron Hernandez, unfortunately injured phenom tight end for the Pats.
Hernandez is used as a tight end, blocker, running back, slot receiver, and wide out. It's a complete guessing game on every snap how New England is going to utilize him, which makes him (before his ankle sprain) probably the most versatile offensive player in the league.
If Tebow was used as an ever-rotating chess piece--given his physical skills and build--he'd probably have one heck of a career, and be a devastating weapon in the hands of the right coordinator.
He's simply not an NFL quarterback.
Theocrats are Social Darwinists.

Hey Granite, I've been thinking similarly for a while now. I've been fascinated by the idea of fullback/h-back........... not just for misdirection, but I think Tebow would be an excellent lead blocker for the half-back. Something like this would open up lots of different options, imo.
