Simple math and population. - October 3rd, 2012, 10:42 PM

One man and his wife have 5 children. Those 5 children have 18 offspring with more on the way. The man is only 65 and before he dies his grandchildren (18) have 62 or more offspring. So from 2 we get 62 or more. 7 billion today becomes 220 billion in a few short decades.

This is simple math. It means mass starvation except for the privileged wealthy. Ask Romney if this isn't so.

You ignore the simple facts. This good earth can support about 2 billion people very well but not 7 billion much less 220 billion. The oceans are being depleted and fished out. Fuel is scarce. Food is becoming more and more limited as is simple pure drinking water.

Oh, noes. We're all going to die!!

In other news, this does not bode well for the evolutionists. Imagine if there had been just a million people around 4500 years ago!

That doesn't make sense to me.

How many people can feed on a single fish?

You ignore them, since you are ignoring that people do die, and work, and there are fish hatcheries, and tons of land all over the world yet to be inhabited.

You forgot to subtract all the murders done in the US and Europe at Planned Parenthood and similar places.

You should check your sources. All westernized nations such as the US and Europe are expected to shrink in size. As countries experience economic growth, and two workin parents, the number of children born goes below the minimum number for population stabilization and begins to shrink. In order to maintain current population, all couples must have 2.2 children. That is not happening. For instance, Italy is expected to see a 28% decline in population by 2050. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2000...michaelellison

The only continents expected to grow are Africa and parts of Asia, where there are many more second and third world countries.

The answer to population growth is economic growth. It isn't true a riser the board (see Bangladesh) but for the most part is. Population increase is very overstated.

Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. If you deny that basic truth, you cannot be saved. God came to save you, you cannot be saved if you do not believe in Him as He is.

Where did you get that doubling rate from? On what grounds do you assume that the doubling rate is constant? There is no trouble for the "evolutionist". The problem is crude creationist understandings of population growth as something that is constant and independent of important social andscientific revolutions which influences the available resources.

Future population growth is a tricky and an extremely complex topic. It isn't just a question about simple doubling rates, it is about social and cultural change as well. Population growth rates tend to decrease severely in modern cultures, even immigrants from cultures who tend to have a large number of children tend to eventually conform to western birth rates.
To suggest that the population size will go from 7 billion to 220 billion in a few decades is completely ludicrous.

It's just a number I think is reasonable. Feel free to enter a number you think is more reasonable.

I don't. But, typical for an atheist, you've misrepresented what is quite obviously an average in order to find something to argue with.

Of course there is. Whatever numbers they decide to plug in, their ideas will be shown ludicrous.

Over the last 4500 years there has been an average doubling rate. Feel free to suggest what that average might be.

But Stripe is wrong because he exposed evolution from a math standpoint.

Why did you just say so right away with Eset's ridiculous assertion?
