Hee I love it, this is exactly what had us roaring with laughter, German people who have lived for years in England and who speaks loads better english than me yet betray themselves on this one.

Well I taught him, the trick is to place the tip of the tongue ON the top teeth and suddenly pull it away, for instance say S pulling the tongue away at the ss and you will have ETH now use the TH to open the required word. This, that, thither etc

It sounds as though you've got it anyway
