I think you would find that the vast majority of mainstream churches DO strive to follow and obey Jesus teachings. But I think you will find that they take a much more grown up and scholarly approach to actually understand what Jesus was saying than your kindergarten approach to scripture.
I think most people realize that they dont measure up to the teachings of Jesus so they become prideful, I know I have done it. I think that is due in part to the church having unrealistic expectations of people, anyone that claims they are without sin is a liar.
So the real question is how do you reconsile "follow Jesus commands" with "every one sins", I was taught that you want to avoid walking in sin as opposed to mistakes. Now the issue becomes what actions we believe to be sin. Most of the division is around the issue of male/female sexuality.

I think at the end of the day, most denominations, including people like Meshak, think they have a handle on what scripture teaches... but at the end of the day their pride will not let them acknowledge that her, like myself, really do not have a clue what it means.
It takes a lot of humbleness to realize that you are just a minnow in a pond that God is managing and that the more pride we have, the less useful we are to him.
Without the Holy Spirit, and love, people are worthless who claim to be christians.. just like meshak.

I am totally obedient to Christ, in the way that his Holy Spirit guides me.. as far as being obedient to your interpretation.. that's laughable. You have no Spirit, no incite and no wisdom.. only an idiot would follow anything you have to say.
