...why creationists argue against the numbers returned. It's not because the methods are inaccurate, it's because the assumptions are not made explicit.

Three possible results from this are:
Electron Capture,
Shock Collapse, and
Z-Pinch.
Which all result in the creation of radioactive materials inside the Earth's crust.
