What the Gospel Calls into Question - May 26th, 2012, 08:08 AM

The Gospel calls ALL religious thought into question. If ones religion is not according to the Gospel it should be rejected. The Gospel is the only true light that lightens every man, John 1:9.

There is no room in the Gospel for man conceived religions. The Gospel is not about religion, nor is the Gospel about our Christian lives. The Gospel is about Jesus Christ and how he has justified a world of lost sinners. Romans 4:5 says that "God justifies the ungodly." If you are not one of the ungodly you may not qualify. Jesus said that he came into the world to save sinners.

No one needs to be predestinated. No one needs to be religious, holy or righteous. No one needs to become a fit vessel. No one needs to be a super saint. The Gospel is for sinners All that is required is that one can believe and have faith in Jesus. "Not by works of righteousness that we have done but according to his mercy he saved us," Titus 3:5.

The Gospel is not about some sort of subjective, mystical, religious experience, that you may have had or are having (Pentecostalism) The "Historical Gospel" took place completely outside of us, we had nothing, absolutly nothing, to do with it. It was so far outside of us that it took place over 2000 years ago.

The Gospel is about how God in the person of Jesus Christ has reconciled lost sinners and the world unto himself, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19. He didn't need our help to do this. He did it totally and completely outside of us. The Gospel is not something that is going to happen in the future. This Gospel is a past historical event that has already taken place. It is also known as the "Christ Event."

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The Gospel is about how God in the person of Jesus Christ took upon himself human flesh and became one with us. He is the new Adam and humanitys representative, Romans 5:19. His mission as our representative was to do for us that which we are not capable of doing for ourselves. God's law demands perfect obedience, because we are sinners we don't have it to offer. Jesus Christ in our name and on our behalf offers to God the Father a life of perfect obedience. It is this life that justifies us and MAKES us right with God, Romans 3:26.

Because he was without sin, he and he alone, was able to atone for our sins and the sins of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. In Jesus Christ we have been justified, sanctified and redeeemed, 1 Corinthians 1:30. We have been MADE complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

"Jesus is Lord" by his life death and resurrection he has overcome and has defeated sin, death and the devil, Colossians 2:15. It is because of Christ's victory that we can now be saved. Now, anyone, everyone, who calls on the name of the Lord can be saved, Romans 10:13. Salvation has been offered to all as a free gift from God, Ephesians 2:8. We receive God's great free gift of salvation by faith and faith alone. The reason that salvation is by faith alone is because all of the work of salvation has already been done by our savior Jesus Christ.

The call now is to renounce your worthless religion of works and obedience and to enter into his rest. Hebrews 4:10. We are called to trust in his works and not our own. When one accepts the work of Christ for their salvation God graciously grants to them his Holy Spirit. The Spirit is given to those who hear and believe the Gospel, Galatians 3:2.

True as all you say above may be...

... who in a word was the Christ?

a) The personified ideal, or concept, of Love

b) The personified ideal, or concept , of Truth

Christians have it wrong.

The Law is/was the sum of the command to love, love for God and fellow man.
The Gospel was about Jesus, "I am the Truth, and trhe way"...

The Gospel is about what Jesus Christ has done to redeem fallen man.

God sees all of humanity "In Christ."

Of course we know that not all of humanity wants to be "In Christ."

Salvation is God's great FREE GIFT for all who want to be saved, Ephesians 2:8.

A gift must be received or it can be rejected. A gift cannot be earned or deserved. We are called to accept God's great FREE GIFT, Romans 5:18.
