Furthermore the degree of the loss is based on choices of financial risk, you choose how much to invest in a house compared to other assets and plans on what insurance (if you can afford the house you should afford the insurance, if not stupid to buy it)

The example with the eye is however not the same. You can not choose to delay rebuilding an eye and he will face an insurmountable debt to pay back (unlike a house where you rent, live with others or take up emergency accommodation rather than immediately rebuild). Unlike a house there is rarely any choice with regard to financial planning, you have your body whether you can afford insurance for it or not (unlike a house).
Also insurance companies are notorious for figuring out ways to either not pay at all or pay some amount far less than actual replacement cost.

Your right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; is contingent on you not raping & pillaging law-abiding citizens.
Your rights to free-speech; is contingent on you not yelling fire in a crowded room, when there’s no fire.
Your right to bear-arms; is contingent on you handling your weapons responsibly.
Your right to health-care; places an obligation on you to arrange-payment for all services provide for you!

4000 dollars for an MRI is thievery; 500 dollars for a five minute check up is thievery. 400 dollars for a ride in an ambulance is thievery.
And so on.
I would suggest the hypocrisy within the ordeal of healthcare be noted before spouting arguments, lest you be noted as a dishonest Abe.

Another Evil of Government Health Care

The city of San Francisco has announced that it plans to cover the cost of sex-change procedures for uninsured "transgender" residents. Said someone from the Transgender Law Center: "All Americans, in consultation with their doctors, should be able to receive the medical care they need to live healthy lives."

I hate to break it to the peeps, but your chances of being killed or wounded in a terrorist incident are so close to zero that they might as well be zero. Worry far more about slipping in the tub.

Healthcare is not a right but a need(depending on your personal perspective healthcare can be argued to be a desirable want). Its up to the individual society to decide on how best to meet the needs, wants and protection of rights of citizens.
