Seems like just yesterday, Morris was defending the release of classified information by the Bush Administration, outing a CIA agent, to get back at her husband for not endorsing the "weapons of mass destruction" story.

If I remember correctly, the argument then was that the president and vice president, having the power to classify and declassify information, can release anything they like, even if it outs a CIA agent and puts US interests in jeopardy.

I guess things are different now.

Being in any branch of govt is a liability, especially things like the military and the CIA. Unless you are a branch of CIA or military that operates totally independant from the president or higher leadership that self finance.

Especially when the government is run by fools who put personal revenge above the good of the country. CIA operatives in a number of nations were put at risk by the Bush administration leaking the name of a CIA agent whose husband offended them.

Morris is fine with that, but releasing something potentially much less damaging is an outrage for him. But of course, things were different back then.
