I used to be in the Army. When you are a soldier, you rely upon your platoon (your fellow soldiers) for everything. You have each other's lives in your hands. The last thing you need in a platoon is something which can interfere with the teamwork which is required to stay alive and to get the job done. You learn to trust your platoon- the platoon leader, the platoon sergeant, and the rest of your fellow soldiers. I wouldn't have trusted a homosexual or even a woman for that matter. I was and still am against women being soldiers in the military as well.
I wouldn't trust the woman because I don't think I could count on her getting the job done physically as well as emotionally.
I wouldn't trust the homosexual for similar reasons. It's been my experience that homosexual's emotions are all over the place not too mention their values and morals are immoral. Being a soldier can mean making some difficult choices and can mean being in difficult situations. I don't think they could handle it nor would I trust their judgement.
I would have thought that if the Lord controls victory and defeat, then it should be the country that is in the right that wins, not the one which allows gays or doesn't allow them.
I'm sorry, but I just can't see it.
Here is an example of how God's hand is taken away from his people in the military because of sin in the nation:
Quote:
Josh 7:10-13
10 The LORD said to Joshua, "Stand up! What are you doing down on your face? 11 Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep. They have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen, they have lied, they have put them with their own possessions. 12 That is why the Israelites cannot stand against their enemies; they turn their backs and run because they have been made liable to destruction. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy whatever among you is devoted to destruction.
13 "Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.
(from New International Version)

The thing is, as I said, US soldiers have fought alongside some openly gay British soldiers, and it has not affected performance in any way.
And the British soldiers who are gay carried out their duties with skill.
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Personally i fell that if gays are in the military and are doing what they have to it shouldn't be a problem, unless they are not doing what they are supposed to or they are causing a disturbance.
Tucker: Yeah, well I think its just a kick a$$ piece of bling. And who are you going to believe? Me? Or some super-smart, stupid, talking computer?

Up until 1999 gays were not allowed in the military. A gay person, who got a court marshal for being gay in the military took the UK government to court. In 1996 the European Court of Human Rights heard the case. They ruled that the ban on gays in the military was an infringment of human rights, and also went in contravention to the Human Rights Act.
In 1999, gays were allowed in the military.
Oh, and Isreal allows gays in the military, as do most western countries. They have had no problems with it.

And if they have been through training and shown themselves to be physically and emotionally capable of carrying out their duties?
As for being able to trust your fellow soldiers because of their morals and values, how close to your own does someone's morals and values have to be? Do you think that the millions of soldiers in our army agree on all moral issues?
