Generally, I find that those who are against the Iraq war, except drbrumley and other ACP voters, are pro-choice. I find it very interesting that they will mourn the loss of thousands of lives, while ignoring the murder of millions.
adam kratt, I have protested baby murder mills, traveling democrats, and visiting foreign undignitaries more times than I can count.
I'm anti-war (not the crazy type), and pro-choice, and I don't see that as being a clash of interests. You say you cared for all of the aborted babies, but let's be honest, what are the chances of you adopting even one of them, let alone millions? There's a difference between invading a country, causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, and preventing non-life from becoming life.

How can you care about a fetus that never developed into a person? You might as well "care" about fictional characters.
Ask any mother who has suffered a miscarriage that question. After she scratches your eyes out, she'll tell you about the plans she had for that fetus. She tell you about the room filled with baby furniture, or the hours she spent poured over a Baby names book. You can debate as much as you want about the personhood of a fetus, but don't discount people's feelings towards the unborn human.

So then are you for or against the Iraq War, keep in mind that hundreds of thousands of innocents are dying because of it.
Yes. I am against the war in Iraq. But, I'm not against it to the point where I'm not going to support our troops in any way I can. I'm a navy brat and was brought up to respect the men and women who have chosen to put their lives on the line by joining the military.

I see, I have the same view on the matter. Hmm debate is difficult when you share views with the person.

I'm an old Navy Officer, so you'll have to excuse my brashness. The germans supported their troops as well. While they were invading other countries the populace was cheering them on. This begs the question why support the troops if they are doing something that is clearly wrong. You think the war in Iraq is bad, yet you support people who are doing things that are bad?

You do it because there are many people who are put into a situation they don't want to be in, and you want them to have the best equipment possible so they can make it back. Plus the fact that we're not blitzkrieging the rest of the Middle East.

You want people to have the best equipment to do something you disagree with?

The troops went there under orders from our government. When you're in the military, your job is to follow orders. If they wanted free-thinkers in the military, they wouldn't send the men and women to 6 to 12 weeks of basic training. My dad told me that.

Well, my view is that I want as many of our own troops to survive to come back home as possible. In order for that to happen, they have to have the best equipment.

Yes, because this isn't like World War 2, we're not actively invading other countries, I'm not supporting unbridled war. Now that we're in there, though, I want our troops to be safe while we're there. I don't want our troops to be there, but as long as there is an insurgency, our troops will continue to occupy Iraq, so for the purpose of getting them out alive, I will continue to support them in any way I can.

I agree. But is it also your view, that we as a nation can send people to battle, for all the wrong reasons, lying about the people we go to war with, taking thier resources just because we want them etc....to be best equpped to totally anahilate a country. Would you say that's a good thing? I would not want our soldiers killed either, but what about the other nation. I'm not speaking of any country right now, just a hypothetical.
I hate to break it to the peeps, but your chances of being killed or wounded in a terrorist incident are so close to zero that they might as well be zero. Worry far more about slipping in the tub.
