Cover-up finally exposed? - June 8th, 2007, 10:12 PM

On June 8, 1967, Israel forces deliberately ambushed a US Navy ship in the Mediterranean Sea. Thirty U.S. servicemen were killed; 171 were injured.

Fourty years ago.

There was a news blackout on this for years. And everytime it was ever brought up no one listened--they just chanted "conspiracy theory, conspiracy theory" and "tin foil hats" and other insults at us.

Hopefully, this will break the press blackout and more and more people will discover that their idolized homeland isn't always what they think it is when they pledge aliegance to the flag or sing the "Star Spangled Banner."
Hopefully someone has begun to realize it's time to finally break the press blackout...

We'll see. The people who keep the secrets don't give up that easily.

We were just debating this topic the other day on the forums, though it was off the thread's topic. The throw down with Knight starts on page three. Here's the link:

I doubt we'll ever see justice for the crew of the USS Liberty. That's unfortunate.

From his position of trust within the US Navy, Pollard delivered over 1000 classified documents to Israel for which he was well paid. Included in those documents were the names of over 150 US agents in the Mideast, who were eventually “turned” into agents for Israel.

But by far the most egregious damage done by Pollard was to steal classified documents relating to the US Nuclear Deterrent relative to the USSR and send them to Israel. According to sources in the US State Department, Israel then turned around and traded those stolen nuclear secrets to the USSR in exchange for increased emigration quotas from the USSR to Israel. Other information that found its way from the US to Israel to the USSR resulted in the loss of American agents operating inside the USSR. Casper Weinberger, in his affidavit opposing a reduced sentence for Pollard, described the damage done to the United States thus, "[It is] difficult to conceive of a greater harm to national security than that caused by... Pollard's treasonous behavior."

initially Israel denied their association with Pollard but later admitted that he was their agent.

Israel has since granted Pollard Israeli citizenship and lobbied for release.

I doubt they will ever admit to intentionally attacking a U.S. Naval vessel, but will always claim it was a mistaken identity.

Avoiding ruffled feathers often takes precedence over truth in politics. It's a complicated and dirty world.

"Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us--if at all--not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men." ... T.S. Eliot
