Real Science Fri: Denver Young Earth Conference

This is the show from Friday September 7th, 2007.

BEST QUOTE OF THE SHOW:
Quote:
Fred Williams: Carbon-14 is a powerful argument for a young earth because it invalidates the possibility of an old earth - the fact that we find it everywhere.

Bob Enyart: The greatest enemy of evolution is modern science.

SUMMARY:

* Renowned Scientists: are coming to Denver! Doctors Gary Parker, John Baumgardner, Don DeYoung and Russ Humphreys are bringing the fabulous ICR Age of the Earth conference titled Thousands... Not Billions to Denver on Saturday September 15 at 8 a.m. at Colorado Community Church! Bob is going with his sons and if you go, please look for him and say hello! Please find conference fees and information at this ICR conference page.

* Renowned Webmaster: Fred Williams of EvolutionFairyTale.com, CRSQ.org, YoungEarth.org, co-host with Bob Enyart of Real Science Friday, led the discussion on the upcoming conference, and described the exciting evidence against claims of billions of years including helium in crystals, carbon-14 in coal and diamonds! Now, on Saturday the 15th, you can come to the conference and hear directly from the scientists who have published some of these finds!

* Rocky Mountain Creation Fellowship: On the night before the conference, you can see one of the featured scientists, Dr. Gary Parker, at the RMCF regular monthly meeting!

Today's Resource: Telethon SPECIAL: In addition to our Plot Audio Set Telethon Special, now we've also introduced our Telethon Download Special! Our KGOV Store now features forty different downloadable resources (and the Song of Songs study is coming soon!), from Bob's Plot manuscript, to his First Five Days novel, to many of our popular Bible Study Albums! Order any of these downloadable resources and have the purchase price applied toward our KGOV Telethon goal to help BEL stay on the Internet for another year! And remember, BEL offers a 30-day money back guarantee on our resources! What a great way to help ensure that BEL keeps pressing on for another year!

It's not Friday, but here's a science report: salt water burning... - September 11th, 2007, 07:11 PM

Hello TOL...

Erie PA researcher John Kanzius and his salt water discoveries!

Salt water burning as a fuel source

And mix in one cup of water from the sea.

And why not take out cancer cells while you're at it...

This Energy Wiki page has updates.

Nov. 20, 2007 Update: Penn State signs agreement
with Kanzius to research and develop uses for his discovery.

And here's a July 1, 2008 Update: Popular Mechanics reports on Kanzius' lack of progress other than the possibility of having discovered a more efficient method of electroloysis, "which may require less maintenance than traditional electrolysis, which uses an electric current to separate hydrogen from water."

Radio Frequencies Help Burn Salt Water
Sept. 10, 2007

ERIE, Pa. (AP) — An Erie cancer researcher has found a way to burn salt water, a novel invention that is being touted by one chemist as the "most remarkable" water science discovery in a century.

John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.

The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel.

Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has held demonstrations at his State College lab to confirm his own observations.

The radio frequencies act to weaken the bonds between the elements that make up salt water, releasing the hydrogen, Roy said. Once ignited, the hydrogen will burn as long as it is exposed to the frequencies, he said.

The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said.

"This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere," Roy said. "Seeing it burn gives me the chills."

Roy will meet this week with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to try to obtain research funding.

The scientists want to find out whether the energy output from the burning hydrogen — which reached a heat of more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit — would be enough to power a car or other heavy machinery.

"We will get our ideas together and check this out and see where it leads," Roy said. "The potential is huge."

That's pretty neat. Cost of fuel would certainly go down.

Are these "conferences" ever in New England? I could use the comic relief.

lol, I had an image of some madman building a giant radio transmitter and threatening to blow up the Pacific Ocean unless a ransom was paid.

I'm not meaning to mock the topic btw, very interesting.
