I'm not "combative and rude" any more than your buddies are toward me. You OBVIOUSLY have your finger on the "ban" button and obviously are just waiting for me to post something that you can twist into something "implied" so you can get rid of someone who questions your religious "wisdom".
Implied profanity, my eye. That's an excuse if I ever saw one. Oops, I said "my eye"...lessee, how can they twist that into an "infraction"?
Katherine
It was without a doubt implied profanity, clearly defined in the rules. If you don't understand that, perhaps you need an English lesson.
If I had just wanted to ban you, I would have done so already...in fact I could do so based on this post alone, as it ALSO violates the rules (disrespecting a moderator.)
We have plenty of regular members who aren't Christians. We welcome them, and in most cases, enjoy their company and debate. You, however, are merely here to be disruptive and combative.
I have been polite. I have been fair. And I have been patient. If you want to stay here, then engage in intelligent debate. If you want to go, snot off like you did in your last post, and I will oblige you. Then you can cry to your friends how unfair those mean Christians are. It's entirely up to you. Can you handle personal responsibility?
And if you feel my infraction was unfair, take it up with Knight or one of the other moderators. They've been known to reverse infractions.

How odd.
You have been a member of a forum of mine for over a year now, and never once have I had to warn you of being *combative or rude*.

Now it is just looking like you want to get banned so you can go tell everyone how you joined a theology website run by Christians and how unreasonable they were. They banned me! I will harden my heart even more....
You could do that or you could get on some other threads and begin to debate!

Shimei, in all seriousness here, how can one "debate" an issue when the kind of response one gets when one disagrees on a point is "you're just ignorant" or "you're not worth posting to" or "you're an idiot"...and then when you return the same kind of stuff, at the same hostility level, you get "infractions"? I am no more and no less "hostile and rude" than those insulting me, but *I* am the only one getting taken to task for it, and it is OBVIOUS that it's because I am a non-Christian and on the liberal side of the political spectrum. It's distracting to debate of the issues, not to mention rude in and of itself. I don't invite ppl to my house, to use the metaphor again, just to call them names and then get all mad and threaten to kick them out when they object! I mean, come on, that's INSANITY.
I took the rules to mean the site was basically "PG" rated, no F bombs, no explicit sexual references, etc, but IMPLIED PROFANITY????? You could make that out of anything. I mean "stick it in your, well, you know"...could mean ear or something more profane, but if someone's got their itchy finger on the button, hey, of course it's "implied profanity". What's next...if I say "freakin'" is that "implied profanity" too????
I will ask again: IF y'all have to have two sets of standards, one for yourselves and one for those who disagree with you, HOW STRONG CAN YOUR POV BE?????

Yup... at TOL fundamentalist Christians hold all the "cards". If ya don't like it... leave!
Many atheists, agnostic's and other lost souls seem to get along just fine on TOL so it's all a matter of finding your niche. If you would rather whine about it, you wont last very long.

The rule is applied equally, and you did more than call someone an idiot. It has nothing to do with your beliefs.

Then maybe lurk for awhile and learn the ropes. There are so many liberals on here that have lasted for years. Learn from them, it really is not difficult to follow the rules and participate and not have any problems.
If you can't wrap your mind around that, then you probably would want to leave and just stick to your friend's profane sites where anything goes. But don't you want to be better than that?
Don't waste your time praying for me and don't insult me or patronize me with that kind of comment again. I suggest you follow your own master's advice and keep the matter of your prayer to yourself. I don't care to hear that crap.

You are looking at this the wrong way....
Think of TOL as a party or gathering.
And the gathering (maybe a block party) is at MY house. Everyone on the block is invited but that doesn't mean it's your "right" to be at the party. Your participation at the party is at the pleasure of the host.
The host naturally has guests he knows and likes and is willing to put up with them when they spill some beer on the carpet.
Then some new people come to the party and the first thing they do is spill beer on the carpet.... the host likely will treat them differently than he would the folks he knows and likes. So the host tells the new guests please don't spill beer on my carpet. The new guests cries.... "injustice!!! How dare you tell me how to act at your party!!!"
So the host calmly tosses them out on to the lawn and tells them never to return.

None of you seem to want to answer this very simple question: If your fundamentalist POV is so right, so strong, and The Absolute Truth (TM), then why do y'all feel the need to stack the deck in your favor by preferentially muzzling those who don't agree? Can't ppl just debate without all the condescension, nasty comments, and personal attacks? If they did that, then there would be no discussion regarding this unjust application of the rules.
At this point, I'm not whining, I'm just trying to figure you guys out. I *was* whining about getting (what I consider) an undeserved "infraction", but right now it's just kind of "what is WITH these people"? You act so sure that you're right, but then have to pull the "big powerful moderator" thing when someone questions your POV and asks for more than your word on it.

There are a million websites on the internet where the cards are stacked a different way.
At TOL, we represent a small measure of balance to the masses.
Again.... TOL isn't for everyone.... if you don't like it... leave.

I just don't understand the mentality.

one more time, using small words: your infraction had NOTHING to do with your viewpoint. I would have given it to anyone on this site who used that word, regardless of the "clever" use of two asterisks to "obscure" what you were saying.
I will discuss Christianity all you want...but I won't put up with insults, rude behavior, or anything else you're attempting to dish out. You don't seem to really want answers...or you wouldn't be behaving like a recalcitrant six year old.
Can't ppl just debate without all the condescension, nasty comments, and personal attacks?
Ok, I don't mean to bring this up again, but with the things you and your friends have posted in the BEL e-group and others, how can you just say what you just said? The listing of the word hypocrite in all the dictionaries around the world just went up in flames!

Not sure, and I really don't care. Granite might think I was being sarcastic...but the point is nil, since I don't pray...and even if I did pray, Granite doesn't need my prayers.
