I can see now what you are saying about us having similar past experiences, even though we veered widely since. I remember at my parochial high school, the teachers would tell us that we would be wives of tomorrow’s leaders. Imagine that, wives of the future leading men in America, makes you want to learn to bake a cake to perfection! I do not know why we were forced to take all the difficult classes in diction, elocution, rhetoric, poetry, history (southern style), world geography, biology, chemistry physics and mathematics if we were going to be spending our adult lives sending out invitation cards and playing hostess? I can see why we wanted to be good parochial school girls, for who wants to marry poor? When your daddy is rich and your mama is so good looking LOL!

Well, since the Lord found me some 9 years ago, I searched until I found myself an American Baptist till last November. The church was heading down the post modern path and the power's that be were giving less and less emphasis on Scripture. The "new" pastor ending prayer in the name of the Father, and the name of the Son, and the name of the Holy Spirit ended it for me there.
The pickens are slim in my neck of the woods concerning a Scripturally defined and Spiritually alive church. A lot of post-modernist, seeker sensitive, easy believism; others not teaching Scripture and several female pastor led churches.

Over the past 3 months, I have been attending a non-denominational, fundamental Baptist Church because the pastor uses and teaches Scripture in his sermons and in his Bible studies. I've talked with the pastor privately on several occasions but ultimately it comes down to the church body is King James only. He and I both agree on the NASB being an a good literal translation that he himself would use. His memorization of Scripture and familiarity with the King James being his preference. I respect him as a man of God, but we do not agree on dispensation & pre-mil rapture.
I keep asking the Lord
at what point do I label myself a hypocrite when attending a worship service or bible study when I don't believe the hermeneutics and/or doctrine being taught as Scripturally accurate?
So I continue to attend, pay attention to the sermons and study along but don't think that this is where I'm being called to be longterm.
According to God's will, a move away from the woods in Indiana might be required of me.

"A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing. A time to search and a time to give up as lost; A time to keep and a time to throw away...."

My real age is something only me and my mother know. If I choose to tell anyone it most certainly won't be you. It's very quaint that you choose to terrorize me at your library. Nice cover there Mark, let's see if you come back on. I know you won't and this is really stupid and I shouldn't reply to your garbage, but you infuriate me.

I'm certainly reformed-esque. Or perhaps one could call me quasi-Calvinistic. Or simply pro-sovereign. I don't really know how to define myself.

I'll say this though: I graduated from Dallas Seminary - I paid good money to believe what I do.

Seriously though, I started more Arminian and ended up more on the reformed side of the table after working out a Master's thesis comparing the positions of Arminians and reformists on the issue of OSAS. It was quite by accident as I was working as an associate pastor in a Free Will Baptist church at the time - very inconvenient. I stepped down from that position and have been primarily in Bible Churches since then although currently I'm teaching in a Southern Baptist Church.

Like realsorceror, I am anti-stupidist...though I have differing opinions as to what comprises stupidity. I can also distinguish the difference between stupidity, and a dissenting opinion. Odd that.

Hmm, sage advice. Sometimes I can be every bit as angry as I am peaceful. But if he comes back let me know

Sounds like Voltaire, who in the end, claimed to die adoring God, loving his friends, not hating his enemies, but detesting superstition.

(I still think he was an enemy of the cross).
